I used to only buy hydraulic hoses whenever one started leaking, because custom hydraulic hoses are so expensive.then I discovered that if you and by standard fittings and hoses for a fraction of the cost. Now I don't take chances with pushing a hydraulic hose too far. If it looks like it needs repaired, I just replace them all. It's great!

I've been buying $10 lines for years, I use cheap galvanized gas line fittings if I need adapters. Withstands over 3k psi for yrs so far. 🤷‍♂️👌

I would not recommend doing this at all. I work for a custom hydraulic hose shop and the fittings that you are using are not interchangable. You're replacing a O-ring Boss fitting with NPT threads and is very dangerous when you get to higher pressures. A good hose shop will be able to make this at a resonable cost and less leak points with the correct fittings.

@@thomaspaineaccountability You are far incorrect. The ports had a O-Ring Boss Thread. He put a Male NPT x FEMALE Npt Swivel into the port. Not recommended at, and as mentioned especially in Higher pressure circuits. I am third generation ownership at my Family’s Hydraulic and Industrial Hose company. We would never send someone out like this. And as mentioned, would’ve cut the leak points down and increase safety.

@@BOBCAT2001ify I completely understand why you see it how you do and why you would never send a customer out like that and for good measure I'd say I'd be an upset customer if you sent me out like this however for a person without enough money to bring it to you. This way works absolutely fine now and is pretty well safe for what he'd be doing with that machine now I wouldn't rig a line on a 700 or something

No PTFE tape on pipe thread, the original looked like a full-time swivel, and every connection is another leak point. The cost of lost hydraulic fluid alone if there is a mistake should at least make you think twice before using multiple adapters. A good local hose shop will give you a duplicate of your exact assembly for more reliable results. I get what you're saying here, and in a pinch, it is a quick solution to keep you up and running, but long term I'd recommend replacing with the OEM specified hose and connections. LOL I thought I was just seeing things when I saw a full time swivel ORB fitting and he was putting a pipe thread in the port... seeing that other people see that... I got a shiver down my spine. Maybe that was done for comments and shock value. When in doubt, support your local hose shop and get what you need correctly the first time. A cylinder or valve replacement if you run the hydraulic reservoir dry is going to cost you way-way more than what you'd put into a correct hose.

I'm sorry but I've been gouged by hose shops too many times to just take your word for it. And I've seen too many insiders trying to protect their price gouging at the expense of others as they mark their parts up by 3 times the cost of the parts.

precisely. ORB or ORF seal with the o-ring, JIC seals with the cone. when you get into MP90 swivels, they're much less common - less common means less are made which means they're VERY expensive fittings. I genuinely relay these facts to my customers in lieu of an FJ90 with an adapter, but, like you said, it adds another leak point, as well as extending the length. Sometimes it just boils down to that old chestnut about quality: you get what you pay for.

MY GOD!!! You install a tapered pipe thread into an o-ring boss port!!! Something tells me the other port on the tube is JIC that you jammed that pipe fitting into. Dude, you're going to hurt yourself or someone else doing shit like that. Your number one thing is to understand how the port seals and then move on from there.

@errorcodeguy456
@errorcodeguy456 5 жыл бұрын
You can get these replacement hoses and fittings in a lot of different places. The standard lines can be purchased online of course, they can also be purchased locally at a place like tractor supply Co or rural King. If you go to an auto parts store some of them can make custom hoses but they are very very expensive. That’s why I have started to go with all standard fittings and a standard hoses.

This is a dangerous proposition. Hydraulics work under very high pressures, 2,000 to 20,000psi in tight spaces on very heavy equipment. Do not use OTC MAYPOP (May Pop at any time) junk fittings and hose. I reject you can purchase even crap hose for the prices quoted in this video. Do you research! Put the hose in the wrong place,, rub a hole in it.. watch the high pressure fluid spray on the hot engine, burst into flames and burn your operator to death.. Skimp on parts that are not life threatening! There is a reason hydraulics are expensive, they cost money to make right. Don’t buy Chinese, Turkish crap if you value your people! Trust me here, low budget connectors that put hoses in the wrong position will rub, pinch, kink, stretch tear apart and you will be sorry.

Very misleading information your using NPT in the place of ORB on the cylinder and the steel line was JIC not NPT. ORB seals with a Orings where NPT seals with a taper. How much hydraulic fluid do you use a month? My guess is a lot. If you can’t afford to fix it right sell your equipment.

I'm a hydraulic hose technician and this is the dumbest video I have ever seen. Don't just pull off all the hoses without marking them at least and take them to a hydraulics shop or have a technician come and do it properly. It might cost a bit more but at least your equipment won't fail and hurt or kill someone.

I don't know who scamed you for your hose , half inch fittings are about 5 euro each half Inch hose is 8 euro per meter most hose fitter will make you a hose to size for a 5er in labour. What you are doing with the pre made hoses and adapters is just dumb.
