Thank you very much for I have Addison’s disease and they said my sodium was very low danger. Slow one they put me on IV now I’m home and I’m trying to drink water with salt to make sure I have plenty of salt. It’s very hard to understand exactly how much to drink.

That was very helpful. I have chronic hyponatremia at about 130. I was very discouraged to learn this week that it’s not improving and baffled because I’m on two diuretics which I think is probably more than I need to be taking. I finally decided just to do the best job I can in watching my fluid intake and eating a healthy diet and see if it changes. If not, it’s time for my endocrinologist to lower the amount of diuretics she’s prescribed. I’ve watched several videos on hyponatremia this was by far the easiest to understand.

I really like that doctor he’s really good at explaining thing!! My dad has unbearable thirst! Nearly two days He’s 85 got inflamed stomach ulsers. On lots of tabs like omeprozal plus prostate tabs his sodium was 127 he’s been left to suffer no sleep and in distress. Hospital sent him home. Have no idea how to help him his ankles have swollen too.

I am not a doctor, but what I do is add some salt to my diet. My ankles and legs are no longer swollen. Cutting water is not an option for me as I am prone to dehydration. I also use electrolyte drinks but not as a regular thing. When it gets low like that , I do add electrolytes. It works well for me and should do no harm.

To be watched again!!!!! Is all hypo/hyper amts of other substances all related to water? When I have tests I see just a number of amt of the element. So, do I just record amt of water / bodily reactions to know what is happening. ??????

I have been told I have stage 4 CKD because my GFR is 45. I'm so confused. One book tells me it's Stage 4, another tells me its Stage 3. One book says I can eat beans, another tells me no, because of the oxalates. What plant based protein can I eat? What are the answers?

You are right at the middle of stage 3 CKD. Stage 3A Moderately impaired GFR (45-59 mL/min/1.73 m2) Stage 3B Moderately impaired GFR (30-44 mL/min/1.73 m2) Stage 4 Severely impaired GFR (15-29 mL/min/1.73 m2) Stage 5 End-stage renal failure or GFR

Please check out our other videos on both oxalates and protein! We have a lot of info there. It would also be highly beneficial for you to work 1:1 with a renal dietitian so they can look at your labs and health history and intake and make individualized recommendations about which plant proteins are best for you. Here is a link to a database of renal dietitians in the US: www.kidney.org/ckdrd

If you have not read Dr. Rosansky's book, you might find it helpful. He is a retired nephrologist with many years working with patients with ckd.
