JameZRVG Aesthetic results are quite different than morbidity and mortality. When you look at the best research, low carb diets in general are associated with increased morbidity and mortality. A collorary or simpler example.. if you look at the longest lived populations, they ALL had one thing in common: a diet very high in carbs (>80% of calories), as well as high veg and fruit comsumption.

I went on a 7 day fast with a friend, was god damn tired like I was gonna die on day 3 (same thing as keto flu). Then I had a small amount of salt because I was craving it, and lord behold, 5 minutes later I felt like I could lift a ton. I told my friend to do the same thing and he said it was like coming back from the dead.

you need to do more research about fasting before you try to do it, it is not safe to do anymore than a 48 h fast with no supplementation of salts otherwise you're literally just pissing out your entire intrinsic supply of salts without any intake, which is most likely going to occur way before day 7 (hence keto flu in day 3) if anyone is planning to prolong fast, make the following in a 2L bottle of water (or scale it for your relative volume, i.e for 4L just double the values): - potassium chloride (KCl) - 1tsp - source of potassium and chloride - sodium chloride (NaCl) - 1/2tsp - source of sodium and chloride - baking soda (NaHCO3) - 1 tsp - neutralises acidity - magnesium (powdered form of citrate, sulfate etc complexes) (Mg) - 1tsp - helps to relax and prevent muscle spasms/twitches during fast (won't happen if you take this) as it competes with calcium (responsible for muscle contraction for binding sites in myosin). no magnesium supplementation will lead to guaranteed muscle spasms/twitches - lemon juice (if you want) - apple cider vinegar - 1tsp (if you want) repeat every time you finish your 2L, if you're pissing too often then you're drinking it too fast

Before doing a fast. You need to be ready,many plants have flavonoids and bioactives that help alot One lemon in a cup of water for detox,Apple cider vinegar onetbsp in cup of water and Ginger tea or Ginseng tea can help you alot to detox out. Before you start your fast you need to make sure you are eating micro organisms throught homemade fermented food for K2 and other minerals including coarse salt that has mone minerals and If you have other organic biodiversed sources of minerals even better throught biodiversed organic fruits and veggies for the fermented pot. Fermentation process needs to be atleast for a couple of weeks to become cultured. Before starting It as well you need to learn to eat live organic food and be ready by taking sunlight in the mid day around 11am - 14 pm when the sun is the hottestfor atleast 20 minutes in the 🌞 sun. Let the energetic hormone of the sun be absorved in your skin ( known as vitamin D ) for atleast 3-6 hours and DO NOT use any water in your skin neither clean yourself. Your skin needs a couple hours for absorption. While fasting I love to use ginger for tonic and other medicinal herbs used as tea infused,as decoction will increase anti oxidant activity and infusion condensed the essentials oils from the plants and you need to collect everysingle sign of water in your covered teacup. Tea is fine for your organism as It dors not trigger insuline and only introduces anti oxidants and polyphynols like bioactives from organic plants. I have an tiny herb garden in my city but you can find medicinal plants fresh or dried at organic sources in farmers market,or you can ask them. Salvia rosmarinus ( rosemary ) Salvia officinalis ( sage ) Thymus vulgare ( thyme ) Origanum vulgare ( oregano ) Curcuma longa ( turmeric ) and many other medicinal plants can be used as anti inflamatory.

Really interesting and informative. My old Grandad who died over 20 years ago aged 90, was an old country boy, he never dieted, always had plenty salt on everything. But he was active, still chopped his own firewood, took the dog for a long walk and spent most of his day in the garden. What he didn't do, was eat anything processed, including crisps or chocolate.

I'm a nurse on a neuro unit. I work with a lot of stroke patients with an average health history of DM II, HTN, HLD, COPD, CHF, CKF, Hx of IM. My patients may not have all of these conditions but usually will have more than half. Strokes can be so debilitating and it's sad to see what the average American diet, and misinformation from health care professionals has done to them. People also don't understand that when your in the hospital we are just trying to keep you alive and it is extremely difficult to help someone change long term habits in a very traumatic health situation. I've seen so many examples of people on low sodium diets who are also taking diuretics, blood pressure meds and insulin. We do blood labs daily and I often have to replace potassium, magnesium and phosphorous in my patients, and even give sodium tablets at time. Talk about confusing for the patient.

potassium is another thing that americans get in very low amounts. I've heard a wide range of statistics, but something like half or more of Americans are chronically low on potassium. A Keto diet will likely only make that worse since most of the potassium your average american gets is from potatoes or bananas.

Arthas Menethil whats worse is that they lack magnesium too which also ironically lowers it further. And those 2 along being so low with sugar is hard on the heart. Aswell as an imbalance of magnesium to calcium. Take more calcium! But they dont tell you to take more magnesium which leads to hardened arteries and many different kinds of calcifications like kidney stones or calcified arteries.

@emberrain7050

No dothedeed it isn't. Drug companies and food companies pay for these studies. Its like the study on a newish diabetic drug that reduced the number of people who would lose their toes by 1.3 percent from the last improvement of 2.6 percent called it a 100 percent improvement. We don't see the studies. They are put in obscure journals and might as well be written by lawyers. I am not sure they aren't. They are used to cover up truths the drug companies and food companies don't want you to know. Drug reps then come in and tell doctors about this new drug that they then give them samples to use knowing the doctors don't have time to read the studies. They tell them what it will do and then go on their merry way knowing full well the 100 percent improvement over the last drug was actually only a 1 percent improvement but since it lowered something from 2.6 to 1.3 percent it was a 100 percent improvement. Tell that to the people who are losing their toes because its better than dying of a heart attack who then go on to die of a heart attack. They put my father on a low sodium diet with high blood pressure meds when he was in his twenties. He was diabetic by the time he was 40. We don't know if the meds would have cost him his toes. He died on the operating table having heart surgery at the age of 55. His mother lost her toes and her eyesight died of heart issues. His father had mini stroke after mini stroke until one finally killed him because the doctor was doomed either way. Treat it as a sugar issue and if its his heart he will die. Treat it like a heart issue and if its his sugar he will die. Not enough time to treat both. Allowing people who make money off these studies to fund the studies is about as intelligent as Citizens United.

Fascinating. I changed up my intermittent fasting by adding a sodium/potassium electrolyte beverage which I drink regularly. The 'keto flu' never hit me again and have lost fat weight steadily till I hit a nice balance. The funny thing is, the whole reason for adding the electrolytes was simply to replace what I lost in exercise. There wasn't much science behind my decision. I generally find that going against the advice of "popular nutrition" is they way to go. Except sugar -- keep away!

Maryam Abbani not sure what Adam is drinking, but Green Tea is very high in potassium. So you could theoretically add a dash of salt to a cup of green tea, and they would make a “sodium-potassium electrolyte” drink like what was mentioned. Again, that’s just a theory of mine, no idea what drink he makes, no idea how it would taste, no idea if it would have benefits. All I know is green tea contains potassium, and salt would be your sodium.

He was taking a lot of insulin and recently his feet started to swell and the doctor said his kidneys were working at 50% capacity. I did a ton of research and in partial thanks to your work, I convinced my dad to stop eating carbs and go on a ketogenic diet. Him and my mom have been on it together for a few months now and already my dad's lost weight (almost up to 50 pounds so far), reduced his insulin, and is starting to do much better. His feet are still swollen and while his kidneys haven't gotten worse, they haven't improved any either. I'm wondering what the cause could be. Maybe because he's still taking insulin, maybe it's salt-related.

"he's still taking insulin" - That's your culprit! If he's still taking insulin because despite being keto, his blood glucose levels are not where you/he thinks they should be, then stop doing that. Why? Because glucose levels are not the true indicator of whether one is diabetic or not. Diabetes is a measure of insulin resistance and insulin resistance is *caused* by excessive insulin which insulin shots will definitely do. Unless he's a type 1 diabetic, his body will produce ALL the insulin he needs. Anything complementary to that when the body is not impaired of insulin production will set his homeostasis out of whack. Since he is/was diabetic, means he is highly insulin resistant and the only way to undo that is to minimise insulin levels as much as possible. Fasting and/or intermittent fasting would also greatly help in this regard as that is when insulin is lowest and for long durations giving the body the space and time to re-sensitise (i.e. reverse the diabetic state). But that takes time, some longer for others.

4:33 Thanks for this insight: Either too little salt or too much fructose activates JNK-1. JNK-1 activation leads to IRS-1 phosphorylation, which shuts IRS-1 down. Insulin needs to bind to IRS-1, so shutting it down contributes to insulin resistance.

@@Storebrand_ Listen to Dr.Robert Lustig explaining this in SUGAR THE BITTER TRUTH... Fiber in whole fruits buffers the fructose.
@Borgilian
@Borgilian 2 жыл бұрын
@@Storebrand_ The fiber in fruits actually slows down the metabolization process of fructose, enough for your body to get rid of most of it and not allow it to be converted to fat. It also feeds your gut bacteria and keeps the colonies healthy, besides all the nutrients that fruit provides. You also can't eat too much fruit.. your body won't allow it. At some point your brain will get the signal that you're full and, even if you're stubborn and continue gorging on fruit obsessively, at some point you'll receive the signal to vomit.

I had the same thought and then it hit me; I wonder if by showing the cats he was hinting at, without actually saying it because he's not a veterinarian and doesn't want people freaking out on him , that increasing a cat's salt intake would have the same effects on insulin resistance. I only thought of this because my cat was recently diagnosed with diabetes. I've since learned that there is a whole lot of filler ingredients in most cat food, like grains, potato, pea starch, and other carbohydrates, so exactly the things that can cause insulin resistance.
@skylerlandale1437

@@robotfighter01 well cats are true carnivores; they are not even biologically adapted to such a high carb content in their food. most of that filler is GMO corn, soy, canola, and other cheap crap with virtually no quality nutrient content in it. of course this is the reason animals get sick from eating a life-time of that garbage. the situation is not so different with humans.

Many Christian nature videos make much more sense than evolution. There’s one one by Kent Hovind where he shows all these animals with fangs and sharpe teeth and they were herbivores. They need those sharpe teeth to break the husks or shells or pick the fruit. So all those dinosaurs where you look at them and Wow I wouldn’t want to be bitten by that! may actually have been herbivores. So T. rex probably ate fruit. Maybe. Actually makes more since. Especially with those little arms. Maybe for guiding branches. But yeah even piranha eat allot of berries I’ve seen.

Alexsei Borda glyphosate doesnt directly cause celiac because it only destroys your microbiota.the bacteria B lactis was determined to hydrolyze gluten peptides. Gluten peptides damage your intestines with or without autoimmunity because the protein is too large to safely pass through your lining without it being broken down by certain probiotics. If you have the gene marker for autoimmunity could possibly start the autoimmune response.
