Scaped Nature... I love it when you take us back here. Still in love with those moss walls🤗😍 and of course what an amazing Aquarium in itself that you're featuring!. The picture on your videos is so crystal clear, it's just like we are there with you! The wood and that Gray Mountain Stone!😍 I love this layout! The hardscape Scaped Nature has there in their shop is just fantastic. Great tips on the colors of everything matching with the stone, substrate, and wood. I really like the lines and character of this Stone. I love when you mix all the different anubias together.💚 Another phenomenal low light layout! Wow, this turned out so pretty and it actually looked very doable for me. What I would give for a system like this!! I think some peacock gudgeons would be a beautiful addition in this tank.. I always wish I knew more about species of fish to give you suggestions! There's just so much to learn! I hope you're having an amazing week. Thank you so much for sharing! A big "Cheerio" back to you, have a very blessed day! 🙏🌿🐟🌱💚

i've had good succes by blasting my aquarium with co2 during the the root growth stage and then slowly reducing the co2 later and completely removing it. It makes for quite hardy plants that transition into slow growers once the co2 is removed. helped me prevent a lot of the startup problems a non-co2 tank can have with a heavily fertilized planted substrate.

Just thought id comment and say i tried out that exact black paint as soon as you showed it on video and painted mine. So much better than the black background layer i had which quickly came away after i installed it years ago leaving those reflective bubble behind. There are still some little bubbles under the paint in some areas though better than what it was before. Hopefully one day George i want you to scape my tank😊

When looking at a low tech tank, is it the kalven of the light or that it is has the full spectrum of colours (I think that’s what it is when it’s called RGB lights) that will help red or pink plants develop that bright colour??

Great layout and excellent hardscape materials. I’m very pleased with these Oase aquariums, the only limitation in my opinion are the internal filters which frankly, in my experience, are poorly designed in terms of both internal and external circulation. I removed it and I’m much happier with a Biomaster external filter. Of course, this also removes another visual distraction. Thanks again.

Hi George, love your channel. QUESTION: I live in Arizona USA which has LOTS of SUN. I am thinking of installing skylights into my roof/ceiling over a aquascape. However, I think natural sunlight might benefit filamentous algae more than the plants. LED lights might be easier to maintain my aquascape for algae. Do you think using LED over natural light is preferred??
@janluchies8611
@janluchies8611 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not George, and I live in Belgium. I suppose you also have cloudy / shorter/ longer /days, which would result in fluctuating ph-values, but it should be possible with a decent Ph-controller and algae eating fish. Maybe you could consider putting tropical plants above / behind the tank to filter the light.

I recently set up a 6 gal cube and also painted the back black. I used plasti-dip as it can be peeled off fairly easily if you later change your mind. One drawback to using paint vs film, is that suction cups won’t work. I didn’t think this would be an issue as I believed most aquarium equipment and accessories utilizing suction cups would be internal. As it turns out, the canister filter I selected issues external suction cups for the intake and return hose rim brackets. The CO2 system I selected uses external suction cups as well. It would have looked cleaner mounted on the back glass, but because of the paint, I’ve had to side mount the bubble counter.

Great ideas - am keen to set up a low tech tank/low light for some crypts I have, soon. My main plant tank is hi-tech, hi illumination - the works. A TIP ABOUT AQUARIUM SAND. The most beautiful sand I ever had in an aquarium was some I sourced myself. Dug up some garden soil out of my backyard - I lived in a sandstone area where the soil is about 1/3 sand. The garden was 60+ years old, circa 1920's - not new soil by any means. Washed this soil about 20 times and the sand that was left over in the bucket was a gorgeous golden brown - the colour of sandstone basically. Gardening Soil is usually about 1/3 sand, the rest is vegetable matter and wood bits. The woody bits wash out first, then the black vegetable matter. The type of sand you get, the colour will depend on your local area and the source of soil, if you buy it. Personally I would just grab a bucket and take some from a friend if you don't have a garden. Words cannot describe how beatiful that golden-brown sand looked in a tank - better than any I have ever seen elsewhere.

Personally I would have painted the back glass Grey, or put a Grey cover on it. Grey-Blue Aquamarine seems to be the visuals you get underwater in fresh water if you look at videos on utube. I guess the 'blue' look is because of the fact that blue light travels further than the rest of the spectrum, but they tend to look grey.
@henrykater9728

An aquarium background that transitions and gardually lightens (pale grey at top, darker towards the base - a subtle transition) as it reaches the top would be the ultimate background, imo, to imitate the natural.

I've always placed rocks etc straight onto the glass and I've never had a problem.Of course you have to be reasonably careful in the placement,so no dropping the hardscape into the tank. Once you've added the sand or gravel it holds everything in place and the possibility of damage to the glass base is,in my experience,impossible. I have kept every type of setup from goldfish to marines and I've never had a disaster and I've kept fish since 1959 so I'm quite experienced.
