I do almost all my maintenance myself because I enjoy the time with the bikes.I have 3. To me it's part of the bike ownership enjoyment. I own the proper tools and shop manuals. I know not everyone enjoys this aspect of motorcycles but for me it is rewarding. That's why I enjoy your channel and yes the do's and don't is great.I would love more. I would love to see more on the little mechanics tricks too, like you did in the past. Thanks Doc!

Keep em coming Doc I am always up for learning new things and different ways of fixing the bike I love. For me, doing my own bike work is part of the whole experience and frankly, Im a poor boy and can't always afford to farm it out.

0:29 100% facts...Those are NOT designed for high vibration powertrains and frame jarring environments.

A dab of dielectric grease on those exhaust bushings when you install them does wonders for making it easier to get them back on as well as it won't decay the rubber.

Years ago I had a fuel line pop off inside the tank of my 04 Road King due to previous owner using safety wire instead of a clamp on line to fuel pump. No fun breaking down due to someone being cheap.

This is very educational thank you for making this. I'm going to get a sportster some time this year and I want to my own work like how I work on my truck.

Doc is correct ,recommenced hose clamps are called Pinch Clamps They are size specific ,you do need the correct pinch tool about $35.00 McMaster Carr is an excellent supplier for these items ,

Good points. I've also heard that with the screw type clamp, can crack plastic bungs because there isn't even force around the circumference of the clamp. The screw mechanism can focus pressure on the plastic 'bung', so to speak. Good vid. thanks sub/Likie

I always thought the pipe thread sealant was for the old plugs without o-rings. I haven't used it yet. I'll get some for the next service cause I trust your advice.

This do's and don't's is a doozy... fast, simple and easy to digest tips!!!

Excellent tips Doc, especially the hose clamps. If I may Sir, Harleys will absolutely vibrate battery cables/terminals loose, and you're right, no loctite. The best remedy is star washers. They're available in both internal and external stars, either works fine. Much better than conventional lock washers for the battery cables. Excellent video Doc !!!!

Excellent suggestions - surprised that some people do the don'ts! However as to hose clamps, in some of my non-Harley bikes, I have them on fuel lines and they work fine (in one case, since 35 years...) They do not get loose, and can be easily dismounted and reused on the road in case of ;problems, no special tools needed. That at least is my experience.

Great tips Doc. Keep them coming please. Those worm-gear hose clamps are terrible and will bite you on the least opportune time and possibly strand you. Reusing gaskets is dumb - they’re cheap enough and give peace of mind.

Thanks Doc. I also use a light dab of anti seize on the derby cover screws, and be sure to use the correct torx bit! Close is not good enough!

I’d rather send my bike to a trained professional for service and look around the dealership for a little while while it’s there but in todays world it looks like I’ll be in training to do some this stuff myself. I’m sure we all appreciate your knowledge, you haven’t steered me wrong yet so huge thanks for that!

I use the proper-sized spring clamps on my fuel lines, petcock and pump. Always has worked for me. And they're easier to install than those worm clamps.

I think this is an awsome video, sometimes the simplest things are what we need. A video of what kind of torque specs, I know they can be different on all bikes, and yes what do we use loctite on and not. Thanks like the video

A good reason to have your electrical wires soldered is for the least resistance possible and like he said it holds better than wire nuts etc.
