After being pulled from the ground and then trimmed severely, bare root roses are covered in wax which prevents the pruned stems from drying out as they will be in cold storage during the winter months.
@intanbaharuddin27035 ай бұрын
❤owh.....when you put it on the ground in spring, what happened to the wax? Melted away by the sun & shoots coming out when its warmer?

Oooh this is exciting to see. I'm in SC so we shouldn't be too far behind your Lowe's. The Autumn Twist azalea is on my list to get this year so hopefully they will be at ours too!

Hopefully any day now your Lowes should start stocking. I absolutely adore the autum twist too.

Hello and thank you neighbor. Have you been out in the garden yet?
@1fabricmom5 ай бұрын
@@gardeningonpurpose3334 yes. I planted spinach, kale, broccoli & garlic for the first time having a fall garden. It has been exciting gathering & eating the vegetables this season. I have started tomatoes & bell peppers germinating inside. Hopefully will have them planted & under the grow lights soon!

Re: pansies, I'm in 9b south TX and i started Flirty Skirt pansies from seed 2 years ago. Transplanted to large containers and after blooming thru late May first year, i cut them back. Lo and behold when temps began dropping ibto low 80s i saw new growth. I fed them, kept watered, and they bloomed heavily up until only hard frost in January! Cut them back, mulched, and following late February they popped back out and bloomed again! Just saying sometimes in hotter climates you can save your pansies with care.
@gardeningonpurpose33345 ай бұрын
Hi there. You are right though, sometimes some extra care will help them come back or last longer in our hot climates. Would love to start them from seed this year.

I don’t have the mountain snow piarius. I might try that. I think I’m definitely going to try encore azaleas. Thank you so much. Never tried azaleas. I like white.
@gardeningonpurpose33345 ай бұрын
The Pieris is beautiful. You'd like it. The Azaleas do really great in the south. I'm hoping it goes on clearance and I'll grab a few.

Just a headup, the likelihood of finding cherry trees at lowes is super slim. Ive been hunting them for years with no luck. For the Black Tartarian variety, I would suggest buying it online from Stark Brothers. I just checked and they have the variety you want in stock, and its on sale in bareroot form .
@gardeningonpurpose33346 ай бұрын
He bought the Bing from Home Depot. We've been looking in stores all over but it definitely looks like it's going to have to be an online purchase for sure. Thanks so much for checking.

A few days ago I was excited to find a variety of fruit trees at Home Depot. Espalier pear tree and cherry trees that produce four different types of cherries just to name a few.

I wonder why no one seems to carry Peace roses anymore. They didn’t used to be so hard to find but now I’ve only found a couple of sources online and the prices are insane.
@gardeningonpurpose33345 ай бұрын
Hi there. I'm not sure. The plant would has been changing a lot. I haven't seen a Peace rose in the stores. Maybe online vendors do.
@smz53026 ай бұрын
I really wish Home Depot & Lowes carried more natives to our areas. Also, do you know if Home Depot & Lowes stopped selling plants treated with neonicotinoids? They were supposed to stop years' ago, but I don't know if that ever happened.
@gardeningonpurpose33345 ай бұрын
I'm not sure. I think a nursery might be the best bet for natives.

I think that's what your colored roses are grafted to. Like a base. You may have trimmed off the grafted on part. If you request a catalog from David Austin Roses you get a Rose care book. Lots of information.And Beautiful hardy Roses.

I’ve had a celest fig in 9b clay soil for probably 15 years, I’ve never fertilized it, very drought ( and flood ) tolerant. Mine gets part shade and produced lots of figs, although they might be larger in full sun with fertilizer
