In my country the Māori women will often cry out in song at funerals as way to honour and send off the dead. It’s always very moving and somewhat of a spiritual experience, the bridge of this song reminds me of that exact same feeling, This is more than a song! This is powerful ❤️❤️❤️

I’m a 30 year old grown ass man and I can’t listen to this song without tearing up and crying. Such a sad tragedy and the thought of families huddled up together and burnt alive breaks me inside. Words can’t explain it. Big up to Lowkey for keeping the memory of everyone who died alive and never letting this tragedy be forgotten. Hands down best artist out there. Respect bro.

Years later I re-listen to this. Im from Denmark but worked in London for almost two years. I took the tube each morning from hammersmith to paddington. Driving by Grenfelll. I remember seeing the burning building. Children died!! I did not connect or understand while watching in the tube. Today, years later, I feel ashamed that I just went to work, a few miles from where people were dying. RIP

I had to pause the video when they were reading out the names of the 'missing' victims, asking where they are. Especially overwhelmed with emotion at that point of the song/video. I'll resume once I've caught my breath. This was such a devastating, angering, but most importantly PREVENTABLE tragedy at the hands of injustice. The victims of this corporate manslaughter will never be forgotten. 😣💔

That was phenomenal, a poetic master piece. The penmanship of whoever wrote this is just spectacular. Everything about this video screams quality, from the production value to the vocals, it is simply premier. To think of how criminally underrated these artists are is maddening. To know that this will never be played on the radio to be broadcast as freely as the typical charting auditory sedation that's doled out to the public like a grey misogynistic, hedonistic, subservience inducing gruel. This has really made me feel as though I'm in an Orwellian novel, more so than usual. I have an inconceivable respect for everyone responsible for this song, keep fighting the good fight.

I live in the north of England and feel a kinship for all my brothers and sisters who are suffering still a year on from the tragic events at Grenfell flats nr Chelsea London I think the most depressing part of this heartbreaking tragedy is it should never of happened, the tenants had reported the fire dangers and were ignored. Unless I am mistaken the only reason the building had been coated in that highly flammable cladding was so the rich fucks across the way had a tidy view. I am so grateful to people from the community who all showed such generosity towards their neighbours and lets face it the Government couldn't care less about the victims the ones we lost and the survivors who needed help and thankfully the local people showed their humanity towards their brothers and sisters and as a humanist I just love when we realised we have over seven billion brothers and sisters around the world and only our love for each other can protect us from those who preach hate like Mcdonald Trump so I have a message for my Muslim friends, عيد سعيد لأشقائي وشقيقاتي المسلمين eyd saeid li'ashqayiy washaqiqati almuslimin, I hope I got the translation right and for my English friends have a nice weekend.

Switch on subtitles/captions, I find that a good way to get a jist of what is being said. Surprisingly the arabic sounds really good, peaceful in a way. Maybe this is true arabic (as it was a language before islam) and the ones ive seen in some islamic scholars speak are just said with hate and rage. or maybe its just said by an angel. lol

This is devastatingly powerful. Compare and contrast with the Simon Cowell charity cover of Bridge over Troubled Water. While that clearly has a role, a sincere intent and will help by raising money, it also reduces the situation to something very safe and familiar - Red Nose Day tears. Meanwhile Lowkey uses humane and tender melodies to tell us about a still burning anger and a community in real pain. The lyric on "blood on your hands, ashes on your grave" - here sung so incredibly beautifully - is utterly unflinchingly brutal. Incredible work.

[Intro: Lowkey] The night our eyes changed Rooms where, love was made and un-made in a flash of the night Rooms where, memories drowned in fumes of poison Rooms where, futures were planned and the imagination of children built castles in the sky Rooms where, both the extraordinary and the mundane were lived Become forever tortured graves of ash Oh you political class, so serve out to corporate power [Chorus: Mai Khalil & Lowkey] Did they die, or us? Did they die, or us? Did they die, for us? Ghosts of Grenfell still calling for justice Now hear 'em, now hear 'em scream Did they die, or us? Did they die, or us? Did they die, for us? This corporate manslaughter will haunt you Now hear 'em scream [Verse 1: Lowkey] Words can not express Please allow me to begin though 1:30am heard the shouting from my window People crying in the street Watchin' the burning of their kinfolk Grenfell Tower, now historically a symbol People reaching, from their windows Screaming, for their lives Pleading, with the cries Tryna reason with the skies Dale youth birthed champions Comparison is clear though That every single person in the building was a hero So don't judge our tired eyes in these trying times 'Cause we be breathing in cyanide, the entire night They say Yasin saw the fire and he ran inside Who'd thought that would be the site where he and his family died The street is like a graveyard, tombstones lurching over us Those shouting out to their windows, now wish they never woke them up Wouldn't hope your worst enemy to go in this position Now it's flowers for the dead and printed posters for the missing, come home [Chorus: Mai Khalil & Lowkey] Did they die, or us? Did they die, or us? Did they die, for us? Ghosts of Grenfell still calling for justice Now hear 'em, now hear 'em scream Did they die, or us? Did they die, or us? Did they die, for us? This corporate manslaughter will haunt you Now hear 'em scream [Verse 2: Lowkey] I see trauma in the faces of all those that witnessed this Innocence in the faces of all those on the missing list See hopes unfulfilled Ambitions never achieved No I'm not the only one that sees the dead in my dreams Strive for the bravery of Yasin, artistic gift of Khadija Every person, a unique blessing to never be repeated Strive for the loyalty of siblings that stayed behind with their parents Pray that every loved one lost can somehow make an appearance We are, calling like the last conversations with their dearest Until we face, what they face we will never know what fear is We are, calling for survivors rehoused in the best place Not to be left sleeping in the West Way for 10 days We're, calling for arrests made and debts paid In true numbers known for the families that kept faith We're, calling for safety in homes of love They are immortalised forever, the only ghosts are us I wonder [Chorus: Mai Khalil & Lowkey] Did they die, or us? Did they die, or us? Did they die, for us? Ghosts of Grenfell still calling for justice Now hear 'em, now hear 'em scream Did they die, or us? Did they die, or us? Did they die, for us? This corporate manslaughter will haunt you Now hear 'em scream [Bridge: Mai Khalil (Arabic)] Olooli win arooh Nas a'am tehtere'a fe sa'at sahoor Ahess ennee be alam tanee Ahess ennee be alam tanee Olooli win arooh Nas a'am tehtere'a fe sa'at sahoor Ahess ennee be alam tanee Ahess ennee be alam tanee [Speech: Lowkey & Various Voices] To whom it may concern, at the Queen's royal borough of Kensington in Chelsea. My friend lost his little cousin that night and I can't even imagine the trauma of everyone concerned - whether they were inside or the loved ones that live on. Mai Khalil’s voice is so powerful. When she sings in Arabic (I think it is) it touches my soul. Even tho I don’t know what she’s saying. & I don’t even have to mention Low-key. We need more rappers speaking the truth. Never forget 💙

Lowkey is back!!! This was so deep, I visited the towers to offer my prayers and see if there was anything I can do. People don't realise how ghostly it is, may the people rest in peace and the families and friends of the victims be given shifaa, Ameen.

This video is the most heartfelt genuine song because all the people involved are living in the neighbourhood and felt compelled in their heart to help from the moment the tower went in flame. It is the natural progression, with creativity and truth that Ghosts of Grenfell will stand to justice and love in the history of 21st Century Britain...

This is just stunning work: given that the 18.5 million pounds raised for Grenfell has been reserved by the great and good who have decided to mange the Grenfell fund away from the people for whom it was raised, when it should be immediately given to the survivors for mortgages, secure homes and compensation without question or assessment. Treating everyone the same: realising that the ideology that people who live in social housing are inferior beings also justified the idea of not building more council houses from the proceeds of council house sales. Anathema to the market economy that the conservative government idealised in the 1980's 90's and even the first labour government in 1997 didn't realise how important that social contract over housing was and is. Have some insight politicians and realise that your myths of superiority are just that and when the chips are down for you, you're just like everyone else, just like people who live in social housing and try to understand how they can make a decent way of life with some hope and a future where they live well and prosper.

I listen to this every night, I have been haunted by the images on the news, the building going up so fast, seeing people alive at the top, like they didn't know. I write poetry and had to write to get it off my chest from what I remember, I hope you like it R. I. P Grenfell It's been 5 years on this anniversary That so many walks of different diversity Innoncent lives lost on a tragic night The embers falling was a terrible sight Dodgy decisions by trying to save some cash 72 lives went so fast, spread in a flash Could have saved lives by not cutting corners Now we're a nation of crying mourners The cladding caused it to be a firey furnace Bodies were cremated from the heat generated This was someone father, mother sisters and daughters To this day no one has been charged For manslaughter Not even the firefighters wanted to meet Theresa May After fighting a battle for over 2 days How can this happen in a Royal Borough Why was nothing checked and been so thorough The UK is diverse and we are proud to be one But why did we let so many die, it's so wrong I hope your all safe in a better place Let down by our government a national disgrace 72 lives lost, yes seventy two 72 lives lost, this one's on you 72 lives could have been saved 72 lives now all in graves 72 lives, so many families effected 72 lives yet so many neglected 72 lives because of your errors 72 lives gone lost together R. I. P Grenfell

This is such a powerful work of art. It moves me every single time I hear it (more times that I can count). It doesn’t need to reach millions of views to be significant. Since the dawn of time, people that made history, made it starting small, but their cause resonated over time. This will be heard, this will matter, the lives lost to “corporate manslaughter” will be served justice, if not by man today, certainly by Allah (S) at some point. Lot’s of love for the Grenfell community 💚

I remember the past years where music would call to me, to make me feel good. To make me feel joy. Then came Ahmed. Then came Ghosts of Grenfell. And all of Lowkey's words from before each, in between, and since. Music means something different now. Not joy by default. It carries messages, joy or sorrow--there exists a message. Some makes me laugh. Some, like this, makes me just weep. Thank you Lowkey. You redefine everything everywhere you go.
