Coming from a synth guy, I tend to forget how awesome organs are and how much theyve contributed to music in general. These things must have taken so much effort to make. Much respect to the makers of such a neat instrument!

One of their best efforts. I still just am amazed at the efforts of the people who put these together. Thousands of connections, hundreds of wires, thousands of parts. And this thing was one of the best sounding in its day. I worked in the organ industry for a year or so doing service

In a way it was easier back then: Each component only did one thing and everyting was very separated. I have dabbled a bit with organ construction and the worst part is getting the circuit for the first key right. When that is done you just repeat for all the other keys on the keyboard - of which there are usually 44 or 49. It was not uncommon in these old organs to have a separate circuitboard for each key and then some circuitry that was common for all of them. In the 1980s they started making organs like computers which meant that the component count was reduced drastically because now most components had multiple things to do.

It’s nice to see someone willing to invest in actually getting one of these in working order. I can only imagine how much $. Most techs out my way won’t even touch 70s solid state stuff

To think the incomparable Garth Hudson could play a melody on this instrument with one hand and another melody on another instrument with the other , put something in his mouth and he could play a tune out of that too simultaneously ! The greatest organist of the rock era .....nobody comes remotely close !

Another Famous user of the Lowrey was the German musician Klaus Wunderlich who blended it with a Hammond and Wersi organ . He used the lowrey for the brass , synth and strings .

Can I play toccata and Fugue in d minor on that organ? Do you have any organs you want to get rid of over there?

what is the unit on top thats plugged int he back? I'm guessing it is doing the delay? Thanks for the vid, the bad sounds great...taking a H25-3 out is true commitment!

It is a delay unit! We’ve got effects in/out on this bad boy! Nothing can beat the tone. Tone for days so gotta commit 💪

@@chestfeverofficial Do you know the model? I actually just picked one of these bad boys up at the end of December, had to drive from Atlanta up to Nashville but the organ was free. My band drags a B3 out to our gigs so I understand that if doesnt weigh 400lbs it doesnt have the tone. My H25-3 has almost no output/volume but everything works including the string machine. Having an effects loop would be epic..

@@poshskiffle nice! We drove from San Diego to Fresno to pick this one up! It took about a weeks worth of work to rebuild and de-hum it. Tim Rogers, the tech in the video had to essentially fill in the gaps on missing info in the service manual but know this baby is built like a tank! Got it working with a 147, used two 147s for our last waltz shows and plan on using a 147 and a 251 next time around. Amazing machine! Needs lots of love though. Ours was in “mint” condition now being the second owner, and the Previous had it sitting at home for 45/50+ years. The effects in/out was a mod we requested. Tim also added the half moon switch and we plan to take the foot glide switch down a whole step!

Yup! Lots of modifications - we had the effects in and outs added to this organ and plan to now swap out the 251 output for matching 147 Leslie outs. Want to have the glide foot switch pitch bend go down a whole step too (currently a half step)

@@chestfeverofficial There's a band out of Montreal called the Musical Box. They recreate concerts of the Peter Gabriel era Genesis. They only use the technology from back then. Amps, lights, microphones, mixing boards and such. Its like being on an acid trip that takes you back to that day. Peter Gabriel saw them and loved what the did so much, he gave them all his stuff. Costumes, set lists, lighting charts . Everything. They put on an unbelievable show. It appears you are headed that way. Good for you.
