I was watching Immo's restream at the start of the last match, and had to step away from my computer to let my dogs outside. When I returned, I saw the stream was offline, meaning I had missed a succulent stream quit. Dale accidentally had a point on his "more fat ass" rant. Stuff like this used to be far more common in games because it appeals to the core audience..Young men, teenagers-aka the OG coomers. I do think it hurts the industry in the long-run trying to completely get rid of a little fan-service like this, especially if its done through some cancerous DEI department that actively hates the audience and acts out of self-righteousness. Look how they butchered Tracer for example, nobody liked that stuff. Most people do want to have the character they play as look as beautiful as possible, that doesn't mean of course that the personality should be neglected :/

And from a design stand point having more body variety with women leads to more diverse designs, look at male characters in games like Guilty Gear, very different from one another, then the girls all kinda have the same body but GG still has a lot of variety, but in tekken every girl is flat as a board, and every guy also kinda looks the same. it doesnt hurt to make their bodies look different at least, we dont need Chun-li tree trunks thigh but just a change in silhoutee is already a good improvment

I don't mind fan service but don't think games are better or worse with it. Though if it's not handled in a mature or fun way, it's just off putting. Like showing ass and stuff for no reason other than just to get coomers to play isn't good fan service. In an ideal world, there's be toggles so you can choose whether you wanna see it or not (much like BG3 for example which is why even the intimate scenes are good for everyone because you can choose how you wanna see or don't wanna see for example). I do however think the overcorrection is also bad because some games are designed to have fan service elements like fighting games. Dudes can run around in their boxers so chick's should at least be treated the same and be able to run around in a bikini and it not be any kind of issue. But again, if its not handled in a mature way then its just silly. Dales point however is based on the fact he's a lonely coomer who gets off on looking at women online because he can't get one irl. The conversation is a good talking point but his reasons are basically because he wants to play with his dick in his hand and look up r34 and junk like that. He has no care for the states of videogames as a whole, just what he can gain from the games he plays. It's a very different conversation for him and people like him sadly.
