I think the girl is right. The way her boyfriend spoke to her best friend, it wasn't normal. He immediately told her he was by himself at the Starbucks upon answering.The fact that he felt the need to quickly point out to her that he was alone, shows that this wasn't the first time he was talking to her when he was alone, and he knew that telling her he was a lone, was the cue for her to take the next step.
