This is what makes colleges such as Loyola Chicago great in the tournament, they don’t have guys who get drafted as freshman and have to develop a new team every year. These guys have been playing with each other for years and it shows, they might have the best team chemistry in the entire tournament

@@crystalvegansmith5728 After the way he played on O and defense against NBA level talent, an NBA GM is either grabbing him in the second round or calling him as soon as the draft ends for a two way deal. Hes improved mightily on defense compared to the last time he was in the tournament. He couldnt gaurd anyone on Nevada, now he's stripping Ayo on the perimeter. Only knock on him is that he doesnt shoot 3s. GMs will notice that work ethic. But If im the nuggets who need a backup for Jokic, its a match made in Heaven. Or the spurs want to mold him into a Boris Diaw type of player.

I have a really hard time seeing how his skill set translates to the NBA. He is too small and slow to be the type of guy who can just hold it at the key and wait for cutters/wait for people to get open. So many other, larger players can finish in the post like he can, and have a 3 point shot too

Comparing a white player to a black player. I respect that. Rarely see that. For some reason players always gotta be compared to someone who shares the same skin tone, not similar play-style. Which is why I'm seeing Jokic as his top comparison...but I gotta lol at that. Jokic is my favorite player, Nuggets my team I watch every game. I see some similarities but he ain't the Joker...it's not even fair to compare a college player to a MVP frontrunner (my strong opinion) anyway. He can't hit the 3s like Joker.

I'm an Illinois fan. But I'm also a Loyola fan if they weren't facing each other. My opinion is that Loyola plays like a 4 seed. There is no way we should've been matched up this early. But anyway, I wouldn't say Illinois didnt take Loyola serious. But it was clear they didnt make the adjustments they needed to to play half court basketball. Loyola constantly got back on defense and never took the foot off the gas. Couple observations: 1. Loyola literally ran the SAME play almost all the time with Krutwig in the game. Krutwig running point forward up top...Let a guard roll around a double screen and get the ball. Pick by Krutwig up top and roll to the basket to get a throw overhead..or if it was defended..the man with the ball would drive to the basket and get fouled or make it or reset. It was almost the SAME thing outside of a few smart back cuts to the basket or shots off of a screen. 2. Ayo didnt have the mamba mentality today. Why keep asking for a pick up top when you were getting double teamed EVERY time their man came to you. Now you're running in circles looking for a teammate or getting the ball poked away because they had VERY active hands. They aren't one of the best on defense for a reason. 3. Trent didnt make shots. Curbelo did ok but again, active hands made half his game look terrible because he kept doing the magician dribbling into traffic. It's only cute when it works. If it doesnt, go back to basic fundamentals. There should've been more alley oop attempts to kofi. 4. Kofi played too soft off of Krutwig to begin with and the momentum just kept going from there. All in all, great game Loyola. I hate that I have to root for Loyola after beating the illinois team I wanted to win it all...but it's still Chicago so...go Ramblers. Just tough to see Illinois go out like this

GONZAGA has the best 2020-21 regular season winning percentage in the tournament= undefeated. Among teams all-time, L-CHI might, among the teams in the tourney this time, they might have the best winning pct.. In '63, L OF C was undefeated, and the next time they were in they went to the FINAL FOUR, right? And add the SWEET 16 now. Or, did they make other appearances in between '63 and the last FINAL FOUR slot, and lose in the early rounds? If so, then all-time they probably do not. But if this is only their second one since '63, then probably so, especially if they had none in DIVISION 1, before '63..

Watched this game from beginning to end. Blown away by Loyola Chicago honestly. This was an upset in terms of seeding, but that is it. They were the better team today in just about every aspect. Dosonmu got absolutely clamped down, and the "shaq" of college basketball Kofi got outplayed by a dude that looks like a regular in pickups at LA fitness. Sister Jean to the sweet 16!!!!! Side Note: I thought I was watching an Illinois home game for crying out loud. These announcers need to do better.

Amazing how it seems that the Illini STILL underestimated the Ramblers after all of this. Very bad coaching and not preaching a sense of urgency by Eastwood. Coach is 90% to blame for the L in that game.

Loyola is an underrated great team mature, disciplined, & skilled. Plus they have Sister Jean!!! Enjoyed the Illini ALL season. Sorry they couldn’t go further.

Loyola just barely eked out a few wins during their final four run, a few buzzer beaters included. These on the contrary are solid wins. I could easily see them making another final four run this year!
