The price of the cards in that pack is actually even higher since the Ravage token is worth a decent bit due to its rarity. From a preliminary search it could go for upwards of $3.

Sanwell is a very minor character mentioned once or twice in The Brothers’ War. (the novel) However, he is given a card here because he’s the point of view character for one of the BRO stories, wherein he narrowly escapes Kroog as it’s burned to the ground. Behind him in this art, you can see Sword One, the mech he pilots. My favorite part about his story is that it showcases how the early-war mechs were operated. The pilot would hold a control rod, and the mech could take commands or mimic movements, as seen in Sanwell’s art.

Sanwell is from the "Urza's Iron Allaince" Commander deck. This means you either got Sanwell in the OG border, or extended art.

Yep. One thing people were grumpy about was there was no standard border version of the new cards in the precons.

I *love* the brothers war transformer cards. I wasn’t a huge transformers kid, but every single one of them has such a unique and interesting gameplay niche. They’re just super cool. Perfect Universes Beyond design.

@@UnEn666 One: Hard disagree. It did exactly what it set out to do by looking like it was pulled directly from a Saturday morning cartoon, but to each their own. And Two: There isn’t going to be a Universes Within version, or at least they haven’t guaranteed one. That only applies to the secret lairs. Since you can find these in a normal product you can buy, this is what we get. Same with Warhammer and LotR.

@@NickTheDM I agree that the art is on point, the alternate art versions are pretty striking in a different way, it's the flavor for me though. I don't wanna put Universes Beyond cards into my Magic cube. Hopefully they'll still decide to do UW versions, but you're right, they never promised it for this kinda product.

I once cast Splitting the Powerstone sacrificing The Mightstone and Weakstone. I mainly did it because I wanted the flavor win, but it does also mean that I have in fact drawn a card using Splitting the Powerstone.

I think I played Splitting the Powerstone in my Blue-Red prerelease deck. But it was sacrificing just a powerstone token for 2 powerstones and triggering prowess.

@Gamer Bear I did it ONCE in sealed. Used Sibling Rivalry, stole their Powerstone and Meekstone, sacrificed it. Still died the next turn, but achievement unlocked, I guess?

I was inspired by LRR's DMU collector booster draft to spend some store credit at my LGS on a box of Brother's War Collector boosters. I finally got to use it to play sealed with a friend last week and it was a lot of fun. We both chose our deck colours based around the transformers we wanted to include (I had Optimus Prime, Jetfire and Arcee in mine) and the games were fun. Well, I had fun with two Lodestone Golems in my deck ^^; But yeah it was fun as a probably once ever experience to play limited with such a shiny deck!

3:00 I’ve sacced Urza’s Sylex two or three times. This wasn’t as part of Splitting the Powerstone’s effects, but as part of Urza’s Sylex’s effects. So yes, I have sacced a Legendary Artifact in this format, but not in the specific context mentioned by Graham.

It's still so silly to me that Wizards had to add a mechanic identical to Transform into the rules but called Convert so the Transformers could use it. The Transformers brand avoids 'transform' as a verb because it apparently is easier to defend the IP if its name isn't merely a description of the thing they do.

I have used "Splitting The Powerstone" a couple times, but not in limited or standard; in a weird Artristocrats build as a combination artifact destruction and mini-ramp outlet? With things like Spine of Ish Sah and other artifacts that like to die and then the powerstones ramp a smudge faster. It was not good. It was fun? to see opponents go HUH? but it was uh. Very bad.

On Splitting the Powerstone, I use it in my Urza Eggs deck in Historic Brawl because it puts stuff in my graveyard for recursion reasons... I should not be playing that card

So this is the weirdest place to ask this buy I'm trying to uncover a buried memory. There was a since discontinued event (stream? possibly but maybe just video) from long ago - like a community challenge or showdown or something. There was a section of it that was a flavourful brewing challenge - I remember one group did Pirates or something and another just tryharded staples. I feel like some of LRR were judges - Graham possibly. Can anyone help me identify the event I am trying to think of?

your perspectives are both valid. frankly it was partly burnout for me after following the game for a year. the transformers didn't help though. the arbitrary inclusion in the standard set packs bothers me slightly. i was bent about losing zendikar and kaldheim and strixhaven, all sets i really liked. and none of the cards in that set appeal to me still? i run gwenna and awaken the woods in a commander deck. ive recently thought about building something for standard recently due to the change in rotation time partly, and while looking over literally the entire set, absolutely nothing drew my attention. i kind of felt the same way about innistrad until recently. big fan of bloodvial purveyor and change of fortune. idk cope
