I got giddy at the end when you posted Brian’s 454 LS7 build! 😁 I followed that build closely back when he was putting it all together. Many years back, and not long after he did the 454, he helped me design a very special TFS 235 HR combo for my 12:1 402 LS2 that made 550whp SAE on a Dynapack in a GTO. Both of you are great for this community. Keep the good content coming, Richard! 👍🙌

I think the reason he used the cathedral heads on that 7.0l is they tend to have a better torque curve provided you have them ported for flow with good port speed. The ls3's and ls7 castings are great for bolt on performance with really good peak flow numbers(320+) but the exhaust and midrange flow numbers I think(depends on head of course amd port work)are slightly better with a higher port velocity, hence a 705hp cathedral 450ci ls7, though I think he could have gone higher with an ported ls7 intake or aftermarket good intake and cnc ported ls7 based castings, but I bet the torque curve would suffer, I mean that's freaking flat over a very broad Rev range, put some boogy in it!

This is kinda exciting to watch. I know nothing of engine combos and nothing of power adder's. I just know I would like a lot of horsepower and torque at a reliable stand point. A daily driver with dependable power. I have the 5.3 Tahoe and the 5.3 Yukon. Hoping to get my 5.3 Tahoe built ready for a turbo combo. Reliable power
@jomanout5866
@jomanout5866 2 жыл бұрын
Did you ever put a turbo on your Tahoe? I put a CX Racing 80mm turbo on my boss's 5.3 Tahoe, fully forged internals, running 9 lbs of boost. I took it to the drag strip for the first time last week and realized I have to change the gearing. 9.8 seconds at 76 mph in the 1/8 mile, does 61 mph in 1st gear lol Currently has 3.73 rear end gears, it isn't in the power band til half way down the track, I'm going to put 5.38 rear end gears in it and see what the difference is. 4l80e transmission with 31" tall tires makes the take off suck so I'm excited to see what the 5.38's do
@superior3384
@superior3384 2 жыл бұрын
@@jomanout5866 no Its never been turbo. It has 3.73 gears I just rebuilt the rear end gears and a freshly rebuilt 4l60e transmission. 2wd. I need to get my suspension right first. Working on that and new brake setup . I want to blow the doors off some muscle cars out there. I think it would be fun and cool.

Bob Newhart immediately made 350 hp more on same combo by switching , added an air to air intercooler but didn’t have a fan to blow through on dyno and I fought belt slipping even with a 12 rib belt , down side was it was expensive and fitting the plumbing took work but I don’t regret it . I also change the boost at the touch of my fingers with an electronic boost controller on the fly . This wasn’t a junk yard ls build but a big dollar BBC that is 95 street that has now evolved into a 1340 wheel hp truck that drives docile until you stomp on it .

Great series! Been following closely.. I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into these taking out a lot of guess work and questions about any 1 particular build. Just in time too for my turbo forged 6.0 iron L96 with stock LSA crank and cam.. boostline rods and Wiseco -11cc pistons.. 65cc LS3 style heads.. trying too break 700whp on a pump gas build (maybe a small additive) with 7875 gen 2 VS RACING turbo.. same turbosmart valving and electronic controller.. I think I'll be close and have pretty decent reliability is the goal
