When i worked on a fleet of Fords, i found the same similar issue with the limited slip rear axles. The fluid type and correct friction additive makes a huge difference in the aggresiveness of the LSD.

Yes, I was really surprised. I've had it sort of a little aggressive for a while and on that trip after the heavy miles, it got bad to the point where I thought something was wrong. Swapped that fluid and added the GM additive and it has been great ever since. Tons of miles on it since.

Just came across your channel while researching Dakota Cruise Controls and I’m really enjoying watching your videos. Love you road-trip especially as I really enjoy road tripping my classics. Myself and five friends and wives will be departing in a four day 1.500 mile Hot Rod Tour of Texas in about 5 weeks. I’ll be taking my LT1/8 speed swapped 67 c10 and my friends are taking an array of cars from 68 Camaro Ls swapped , 68 Ls swapped c10 and 54 BelAire. I look forward to future videos and I have subscribed. Btw I’m installing the CRC 1000 Dakota unit into my c10 before I leave on my road trip.

Great trip in the old chevy It did so good. That was a lot of miles and pretty good gas mileage right on! with the price of fule today to. A old timer told me to only use AC Delco in my posi for a additive or it will chatter he was right😁 the other stuff they sell just don't have the right stuff in it. Glad you didn't sell the old chevy it sure is a cool old truck. Take care man👍

Thanks for checking it out. I didn't know anything about the Delco fluid until I Googled. it absolutely is a lesson learned and I'll change the fluid in the malibu too just to be sure.

I'm so glad you enjoyed them. I'm very happy with how this truck turned out, and I'm looking forward to taking what I learned and applying to to my '55 Belair. I don't know about knowledge or talent, but I do know that hard work and determination will overcome many challenges. '57 is my favorite year for these trucks and I'm glad you have a direction with your project. You won't regret going with an LS powertrain. Makes it so much more enjoyable. Thanks for watching.

Hi there, thanks for the time you took to share your thoughts. Beautiful truck , and great build. I have a 57 chevy as well, and am convinced to put in an Ls. Where did you get your after market suspension from.

LS engine is the best option for a V8 RWD vehicle in my opinion. The aftermarket parts supply for them is fantastic. My suspension.. Front clip is a 78 Z28 Camaro, coil overs. The rear is a 4 bar 4 link with panhard bar and coil overs. The coil overs and 4 link are from performance online. The coil overs are Aldan American brand. I hope that helps.

I’ve got a 55 Chevy Cameo that I hope to start working on soon. It’s got the stock suspension and drum brakes all around. I’ve been back and forth on if I want to start swapping suspension components vs rebuilding as original. I’ve got a sb 350 for it, but am still tempted to get an LS for it. If you were to do it again on a budget would you swap to independent front suspension, power steering, power brakes, etc.

I have power steering, power brakes etc. It's a Camaro front clip. Yes, it's a priority for me to have PS and PB. I like my cars too be as drivable as possible. Personally, I would not waste money on new original parts for suspension and steering unless you're doing an original restoration and don't plan to drive the truck much. If you want to be able to road trip or do longer weekend runs, my opinion is that PS and PB on these trucks is necessary. hope that helps.

My truck needs a complete rebuild but the first purchase I'm making is a vintage air system. I live in Phoenix so it's a must Lol. Is that an S-10 frame?

No sir. It's a stock frame with Camaro front clip and a 4 link in the rear. I agree, if I was in Phoenix, I would also have air in everything.

@@SlowCarFix my truck will has same set up with the camaro front. Question, what brackets did you use on the rear? I've got the original hangers on the original frame, nothing on the current frame yet Love the videos

I’ve got to ask how tall are you I’m 6’1 trying to fit into a truck like this and my seats look similar to yours and yet I still need leg room.

I'm 5'8" and these trucks are tight for leg room. I think you would do well with mounting the seat higher because there's a ton of head room. This would give you more leg room.
