I owned a '93 Cobra Mustang with aluminum GT-40 heads After missing a couple of shifts and over revving the engine one of the valves after getting hit by the piston, broke off and rattled around the cylinder a bit. The piston shattered and then the engine quit. I was lucky as all I had to do was replace the piston & rod and install the stock cast iron GT 40 heads back on. It ran as good as before, just with a bit less top end power. I was lucky.

I guess that’s one way to drain the coolant before pulling the head. Probably not the way you want to. Sorry for the car owner that will be a pricey repair. Great video Rich

Oh, the carnage. This makes up for the lack of carnage from idocars channel. Piston nuggets and the pin always stays intact.

With that amount of damage, you know the owner was spanking it hard when it blew. The head is toast. Nuggets in the pan, just like the teardowns @I do cars. Wow,, have to blow it apart out of the car to see if the block can be repaired, maybe a sleeve for #7. Thanks Rich.

LS6 motor good for 170,000 miles. My 93 305 Silverado has 245,000 and needed a TBI port cleaned out to again run perfect.
