I forgot to say it's a manual 200tdi version on my Range Rover is it is simple as taking the abs off and putting a servo on thanks Danny

brilliant plan, Pretty sure the Salisbury diff bush has the rib on it so it compresses better.

When I saw this I was wondering upon disassembly could one measure the existing collapsed spacer and manufacture a bush to suit? Then after the installation of the steel bush in the casing this new sleeve could be installed and checked for lateral movement if the existing bearings were to be reused?

I just did a D2 box with the selectable spacer and used the old bearings as they looked fine and after fitting a casing bush due to wear, there was no movement on the gear and so the tube was re-used JP and I were wondering if the original type of collapsible tube continues to deform during use, so the assembly is allowed to move and wear in the aluminum casting - there seems to be no other reason However, I do not see many of the selectable spacer types of LT230, so I cannot say it is a complete fix - but certainly an improvement!

@@BritannicaRestorations I always though they were probably deforming during use, especially in shock loading, those helical gears must be making some big axial loads with about 2.5t bouncing about

Mike. That's what the actress said to my Bishop, her box was to always be bushed & have a steel tube in it ! When I heard the word 'Mass', it just invited all pedo's here Downunder ? Say hello to the "F1" Pope for me when he's in town, as poor bloke is offering a lot of forgiveness for past sins like 'JP2' did +20 years ago. V

I cannot say as I have not come across this, but it could be worn bearings, bad shimming or lack of oil

I wonder if any of the re-manufacturers in the UK will try this for better longevity?

I think some pinion crush tubes have the bead/flare included, wonder why they don’t supply it to control the deformation in the intermediate shaft? Is it possible to make some kind of selectable tube/spacer halves or solution for us DIYers without a lathe?

Mike, do these shafts typically have any runout? I have lt230 that leaks, just been too hot here to venture out on doing the job. On another note, there is some controversy on the amt of torque to lug nuts on defender wheels, both steel and alloy. I have the Defender SVT alloys and never tighten over 90-95 ft/lbs. guys at the shop say they need 140-150 ft lbs. I think this is too much torque and risks snapping studs

Some shafts wear because the bearing is spinning and not being held in place by the collapsible tube - be not seen one run out I do alloy wheel nuts to 110 lbs normally

Good video I have a question about Range Rover Classic abs system can you take it off and put a manual pedal box on I appreciate that you're a busy man thank you for the advice you give me in the past thanks Danny

Funnily enough I am considering doing exactly the same to a RRC project I am doing as the main ABS block is shot and is a king's ransom to repair I know it has been done - and I 'think' you can keep the STD pedal box and just bolt on the servo
