Was introduced to LTJ Bukem by a friend who played me this track and it sparked my love for D&B way back in the late 90s - listening to this now is tinged with sadness as that friend died unexpectedly this year to a brain haemorrhage but I am thankful that I knew him at all and that he helped widen my taste in music. RIP Mike, miss you more than you know mate.

Lmfao. I remember when all the vinyl was being sold off en masse. There was a stall in our local indoor market selling off stuff at silly prices. D and B, Hardcore, Dub, Revives, Rare Groove, Funk. Basically it was a gold mine. He didn't have a clue what he was selling. Me and my mate spent hundreds. Did pretty well!

I once was searching for a record from Steve Mason and Pete and it was hard to find in the U.K and in Holland.On a day me and my mate went to Cologne (Germany) and there was a two floor record store with a basement.We came in that basement and there were standing more than 40 !! the same records from Steve Mason and Pete,the one we were searching after for a long time. We smoked some weed before and we were really thinking that we were hallucinating !! After drinking a few beers we went back and we discovered that it was REAL !! We laughed all day so I know how you must have felt. Those are amazing experiences in life !! Cheers.

Mad that u believe Tories are gonna help you in any way 😂 yeah man, did a good job scrapping council funds so they can't keep things functioning or find a house for someone homeless without being billed £60 a night because they have to put them in someone's B&B, slowly sold off the NHS so your nan can't afford her medication, or someone with mental health issues has to wait MONTHS, getting worse every day for any sort of help because everything's being sold off and gimped... But you come on a d&b tune, a scene that's got influences and players from all over the world, and u tell us that it belongs to only the English. Fuck off

Seriously, is someone debating whether this is dnb or not? As Mathew Clarke say's, bukem was dropping this at Dreamscape's, Helter Skelter's and World Dance's in the mid 90's. He's a pioneer for the whole dnb scene!
@ncshuriken9 жыл бұрын
Tom Ware How can ANYBODY argue whether or not this is DnB LOL? Even if he DID take one of the most iconic chord patterns in the history of DnB straight from a track called Sunflash by Lemon Sol, this is DnB thru & thru, and will always be one of my fave tracks of all time in this genre. Its just beautiful man, I remember the unreleased remix by Paradox (I think) which was great too, it had a more Jungly feel to it.
@grizcuz9 жыл бұрын
Tom Ware Can't fully explain just what it was like to first hear Bukem playing tracks like this back in 95. I mean, I did like some other Jungle/Hardcore tracks from about 91 onwards, but I didn't really like the direction it was heading in before this came along and blew everyone's minds, too many 'hoover' samples and too moody, macho sounding for my taste. When his Good Looking/Looking Good label released track after classic track in the mid 90's it felt like he single handedly pioneered a whole new sound and for a good couple of years back then he was definitely one of the, if not the, top DJ's on the planet and I always liked Conrad's MC style as well, he didn't overdo it, just enough to keep the party going without taking focus from the music. Completely reinvigorated the scene in my opinion, thought it had all but died by about 93/4, nights out were getting dodgy, violence and crack rearing their ugly heads and ruining the vibe [plus the authorities were really on top and the little chaps that fuelled the atmosphere had dried up, full of MDA instead, meaning everyone sitting down too fucked to dance]. But the summer of 95 was absolutely fantastic, mostly because Bukem and a few others were spinning this type of stuff and the Dutch labs were back on form as well, best atmosphere in the clubs I'd seen since 88/9, 'cos everyone was just out to dance to tracks like this 'til the lights came back on.
@ncshuriken9 жыл бұрын
***** I was lucky enough to see Bukem play a free night (yea FREE, BUKEM! LOL!) for some random charity. It was good, a whole world better than the vomit-inducing 'Jump-Up' nights that make up about 80+% of the DnB clubscene these days but by then (this was about 6 years back) all he was playing was commercial, cheesy liquid... I wish I was old enough to have experienced the Jungle & DnB clubscene back in the 90's because these days I find it shit, and a complete waste of money. The music is terrible, pure noise, only enjoyable when you've had about 7 bottles of Stella and you've turned into a complete animal. Sad times man...
@CharlieT988 жыл бұрын
Tom Ware ugh I don't get why people always get into the jungle vs d&b arguments. Chances are if you like jungle, you like d&b and vice versa, not to mention people seem to have different definitions of the two genres. Some people say that for a tune to be jungle, it needs dub/reggae samples and other people say that the difference is whether the drums are chopped the fck out or if they're loops. The point is these debates are stupid and we're all listening to the same music anyway, so lets just enjoy it

Maybe his defining track....I personally love "Demons Theme" the most....but this one...I listened to thousands of times. It was featured on literally every Major DnB compilation of the nineties'. The Breakbeat is iconic and the melodic elements....

This is sublime. when Micky Finn and similar were on, I'd usually head to the ladies powder room. I'd never leave the dance floor when LTJ played.

Thank you guys. Alas my original 12" on Good Lookin Records is totally done. 😒 Took it too many parties and overplayed it at the time and beyond. Really turned my head and many others...we now have a revival of 90's house, D@B but all new crew learn from the masters! Respect. ✊✊

I don't care if your more into techno, tech house or deep house than DnB, this track still has to be close to the top.
