It’s crazy to see all these guys saying how they want to grow out their hair/they are trying to. It made me remember the early days of beginning my hair growth journey and how much of a love/hate relationship I’ve had with it, but after about a year and a few months I can honestly say I’m so glad I followed through with it. It does take a LONG time to finally feel comfortable but it’s so worth it. To the guys just starting out, keeping going, you won’t regret it!

I'm watching this and it's honestly surprising to me how to him having long hair as a guy has the same benefits that to me having short hair as a girl does - low maintenance, no bad hair days, gives you extra time when getting ready and don't have to worry about what your hair looks like 😂 that's practically why I cut my hair short so it's kinda funny
@stylewithaltitude
@stylewithaltitude 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I got some of those perks when I had it short as well. But getting a fresh fade for me was high maintenance and adds up. It starts to look off when it starts to grow back and need to keep up with it.

I’ll explain this phenomenon Girls with short hair usually don’t style it with wax or clay or whatsoever and that’s one of the more time-consuming things for guys Guys don’t straighten or do other crazy shit with long hair like girls do, cause we love the chaos Which means that, ironically, the low-maintenance haircuts for guys and girls are the opposite

My hair's been long for 5 years, and the biggest advice I can offer you is to just don't give a crap. Not about how it can be annoying when you can't tie it, just slick it back or use some kind of headband. Not about what people might think, and there may be criticism, especially if you're still in mid/highscool (I mean I've grown it in my 1st highschool year). But just don't care, or even make some humour about it. TL;DR : Keep up and don't give a crap about anything.

I'm a 13 months into growing mine out and I learned soooooo many things during this journey. I learned that my hair is a curly 2b-2c and and it cannot be styled in the same way as straight hair. I was never able to pull off a good style with shorter hair because I didn't know how but growing it out forced me to do a lot more research and I'm now very knowledgeable in this field. I just need a month and I'll be able to tie the top of my hair comfortably (use Bobby pins for the sides). Your content is very entertaining but since you do have 1-2a type hair it doesn't apply to me sometimes. Keep it up!

Started letting it grow in February 2020 mainly because I wanted to but also to help stop the travel of covid. I wanted to avoid going to a salon as much as possible because it wasn’t necessary. It’s January And I can comfortably tie my top part up but the sides and back still need a long while to go. My desire to have fully long hair is definitely stronger than my current annoyance at the different lengths and in between awkward stages.

Maybe 2/3 more months will take to tie up properly. Update: i cut my hair after 15 months of growing it on may 2021. It felt really fresh and energetic after having short hair as i could not maintain my hair that well. Now it's march 2022 and again im determined to have long hair. Let's see how it goes. 😁

I agree with most except with the "less maintenance". I constant have to search for split ends and wash it very throuroughly while also making sure it dries well to avoid damage. Let's not even get into the huge amounts of debate around what is best: cold hair dryer vs letting it dry, conditioner vs coconut oil, wash frequently vs. 2-3 days, letting it grow vs using a method for enhanced growth (rice water as an example), what brush is best for your hair, etc. I also have to brush it 3+ times a day or it will get tangled and I like it when it looks sleek. It's all worth it though. I don't regret it despite it's inconveniences and it feels amazing to have random people praise your long, black, shiny hair.

i grew my hair out for 10 months from med disconnected undercut. i watched most of your videos during that time, really informative. But sadly I had to cut my hair short because of school. Gonna start again. Thank you for all your videos much love :D

You have to cut your hair because of school? What, when were schools able to tell you how your hair looks? Maybe your not American and in a different country.

I'm currently at that length of being able to tie all my hair back but not that comfortably and I'd say it's my worst phase of awkwardness so far. I'm like 80/20 towards getting a big haircut in the new year... Also, I envy you massively that you don't have bad hair days. I have bad hair days everyday without fail with longer hair, maybe it just isn't for me 😂

Tried growing my hair out through the long lockdown in 2020. The last time I got it cut was December 2019, and as we went in to lockdown, I was debating either shaving it off or growing it out. I chose to grow it out, and for the first 6-7 months I loved it, but once it got to September-October, it was annoying me. Of course through the lockdown I wasn’t able to go to my barbers to get maintenance trims, so it grew out fairly scruffy. I got it cut at the end of October for a wedding and I was back to the recognisable me again. This year, I’m gonna do it properly. A trim to neaten things up every 6-7 weeks, and proper care. It was my first time growing my hair so it was something to remember and I did enjoy it, but it was the final stages that had me annoyed. Can’t wait to be able to find new styles in a few months.

I believe that at the moment I'm somewhere around 18 months of hair growth and the tangling of the ends rly gets me to consider cutting it all short...Thank god it's winter and the 'there's no point in getting clean cut in winter + covid time' argument holds me back

I have had long hair for about 2 years now. I just wanted to try it. For me the cons far out weigh the pros so I'm cutting it today.

I come back to this video whenever I feel the urge to let it grow. I had mine at a awkward stage where on the top the bun was perfect (kinda like yours) but the sides and the back were too short to tie and too long to look good. So I ended up shaving the back and the sides which looked really cool in the beginning but... my goal was to have it ALL in a bun. I ended up losing control and got a buzz cut. I don't regret it in some way cuz I actually liked the buzz cut, but now that winter is coming, I really miss the long hair. I'm gonna let it grow again as I haven't touched it since the buzz cut in august! Wish me luck!

I swear you can rock any style you want mate. If you cut your hair short (said on your insta story) go for that crop top fringe or that middle part cuz they look awesome, just imo

I have it long, but I'm pretty sure I will go back to short this spring. I'm thinking like short but with still some length, not tapers or fades. You show some footage of you previously having it in this video and I admire it.

22 months since my last cut. Much longer now than when I was in grad school. Last chance before my gray hairs begin to dominate. When I’m ready I’m giving my hair to Locks of Love.
