We've always heard that you can live in Thailand for $20k per year, but we didn't realize you could live so comfortably. You picked an amazing place to stay at, so bright, quiet, open, and airy. The price and ease of the medical care sounds amazing as well. I definitely see a few months in Thailand in our future!

Yes, this year has flown by and we feel lucky to have spent it in Thailand. The relatively low cost of living means we can still afford to continue the journey once it’s safe to do so.

Such an awesome breakdown! I really liked your way of showing the costs in Thai Baht and then in USD :) We have also found Thailand to be very reasonable and we also spend the most money on food :) The villa in Krabi has such amazing and peaceful scenery!

Thanks for breaking down all the different visa options. I have never lived in a different country for a long period of time so it's helpful to see how that would be possible. I was just talking to my parents about retiring in another country! The villa you rented looks so amazing...I love the big windows and how secluded it feels. The hammock in the front is a nice touch. That's super convenient how most places come furnished. That definitely makes it easier to move from one place to the next.

This is incredible and soooo helpful!! This house is so lovely and I adore the peaceful setting. The costs are so enviable (less than 1/4 what my partner and I pay in the DC area, for zero services and takeout once a week! XD) and when you described walking in without an appointment and being seen by a doctor right away, I said "What?? What??!?" out loud!! ;D That is so awesome. The visa info was so helpful too! I work remotely for international orgs and hope that Thailand will come out with a remote worker visa before long. Anyway, I had started out only vaguely interested in living in Thailand (more focused on Indonesia) but your channel is making me way more interested in spending more time there in the future! :) Thank you so much for all this great info.

Very Helpful video guys, we've always wandered what the cost of living in Thailand was. I feel like I assumed it would be about 15k a year so its good to know its right around that. How much would you say you're saving by doing long term rental as opposed to like weekly airbnb rates? Glad you guys are learning and enjoying Thailand, seems like a great fit for you guys right now based on what you said in this video.

@LucasWorldTravel: Thank you for this content and for your transparency. On another site, the KZfaqr explained that most expatriate couples live fairly well in 2022 for between USD$1000-2000/month. So, I think you are doing very well!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🌺 When I lived in Vietnam, I went to Thailand for medical care and I was impressed by the doctors' bedside manner and by the quality of care and the medical facilities themselves.

Yes, I bet. Thailand has great care too! It was actually much easier and affordable to get care in Thailand. It's a big plus!

WOW I just came across your channel…you both make a beautiful couple and you both explained everything quite well…Thank You….P.S. how much are the classes and how many hours a week do you go and lastly after six months can you renew your education visa?
@LucasWorldTravel
@LucasWorldTravel 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Marc! You can get either a 6 month or a 12 month visa and they are renewalable. Class fees are 20,000 baht 600usd for six months and 30,000 baht or 900usd for a year. The visa costs an additional 9000 baht 270usd I believe.

Well I like the place you have now but also the condominium Saturday's ... But Phuket is one of my favorite part of Thailand and The View Condominium are really nice in the Patong area and they area fairly new development ... But its not budgeted friendly ! Plus I like DeCoze Hotel which is 10 to 15 minute walk to Banglo rd. And the mall in the center of phuket !

This is Ao Nang, Krabi a beautiful beach town. Since the town's many economy is tourism most shops have someone who can speak English. Jobs are mostly just teaching English.

@@LucasWorldTravel Udon Thani reminds me of the United States in the 1960s - 1980s in my youth where people cared about each other and was proud of the family because everyone worked together for our future. Also the cost of living makes me upper middle class on my pension. No racism and if it was I only know simple Thai, you have to understand what they say to get upset.

Nice to see an honest video about realistic expenses. Most of the other videos I see show how people live on 50K a month. Its an absolute joke as most of the teachers do not even make 40K.

oh kay the bill explaination : question answered.. An apartment is pennies compared to the $400+ a month on a house, but I'd sooner opt for house because you get more "Bang4YourBuck" so you've made a wise choice by shelling out a bit more. nicely done!!

We found this place by word of mouth. Facebook Marketplace is also a good resource to finding place. Our Thai is really not that good, so we handled everything in English. Of course, not all locals speak English, but because tourism is so high most places that you would want to live will have someone speaking English there. Unfortunately very little is advertised as organic in Thailand. There are just a few organic fruits and veggies available. Nonetheless, I think Thailand is a very nice comfortable place to travel and even retire. It's definitely worth a try.
