Natalie is possibly the best Coloratura of her generation. She has the seamless quality of voice that Leonard Warren had where connection from most to voice is secure whatever position you find yourself in. It is rare even among the best Opera singers today. Today Blue Ivy would be the closest with that ineffable quality.

I have watched, and listened to (on You Tube and CDs), Natalie do Lucia mad scenes many times, but not recently. Although I'm a huge fan of hers I seem to have forgotten how wonderful she really has been. Overall she has for years been my favorite singer, and in my lifetime I have liked nobody better

sHE SAID THAT HER VOICE DID NOT CHANGE AND THEREFORE RETAINED THE SOPRANO VOICE , BUT BECAUSE OF HER AGE COULD NOT BE CAST IN THE YOUNGER ROLES. (SOrry for the caps) But she could not do the mature roles because she still has this very soprano voice. What was she thinking!!!!?????i dont hink anyone would care because her voice is so lovely. I think she has the best soprano voice I have heard so far

Because Natalie falled of in her first aria so you understand.... it's not easthetic. Yes, we don't care about it but the Met want to hide this. It's the only reason I see and yes it's pathetic

@artsyfartsy72484 жыл бұрын
Its not this exact song. The song you're looking for is Il Dolce Suono. A beautiful piece. She sings il dolce suono after killing Arturo her husband to be and is wandering the halls , recalling her meetings with Edgardo and imagining herself married to him.

Natalie Dessay. Ich vermisse sie.

This the scene I said 😮shi itch you lost it. And then?! Since I'm having an adventure in Dubuque I told the park people about this opera and they said it's court drama. They said this happens in court all the time! Nobody wants to hear their problems bc its inconvenient to them. I learned something real. This could be a South side Stockton Hmong couple drama. Married at the community center and she killed her husband at the motel the night off. That's how Court 🤔 😳 goes. That's what the poor told me. We just know hear them. This happens all the time. The family has money problems and they give a bride away in exchange for dowry to keep the business afloat. I hope to be more humble and listen to people's problems. This opera is nice to listen to when reading over the notes of the case. You can enjoy your life.

Sutherland doesnt have the notes dessay has and try to find the whole scene from the beginning, you will be surprised with the acting
@robert111k5 жыл бұрын
Sutherland was just a kind of vocal athlete with no musicianship and acting skills at all. If she had been... I don't know... Polish... instead of British (well, Australian in fact, but from a Commonwealth country) nobody would remember her anymore. She could reach the highest peaks of ridiculous with her acting, her enunciating and her vocal nonsense meaningless fireworks. Dessay has been a sort of middle class in the Parnassus of Opera. There have been quite a few singers far above her in terms of artistry, acting, vocal skills and sheer beauty of tone, but Sutherland is by no means one of them.

Joan Sutherland was the best Lucia by a mile! :)
@keouine2 жыл бұрын
She's great no doubt, but I am done with the realistic approach to acting in opera. Focus on singing, posture, maybe some stylized agony but the efforts to portray realistic death throes, murder, insanity etc make me cringe. I miss days when singers occasionally extended an arm or turned slowly. In the end it's a singing performance.
@genesis6312 жыл бұрын
Why not just have concerts then? This is still theatre. Modern audience's want to feel something, not just hear technical mechanical singing. Don't underestimate what the human body can do.
