Luciano Pavarotti sings Alfredo's aria, "De' miei bollenti spiriti" and the cabaletta, "O mio rimorso" from Act II of Verdi's opera La Traviata. This was recorded during Pavarotti's Salzburg recital on July 31, 1976. Leone Magiera accompanies the tenor at the piano.

you were there, that is amazing, if you feel like it, we would love to hear more details about it. He was just starting out, in good shape, not yet heavy, voice like an angel.

@@ellenlyons7413 Ellen, I was also Backstage to get meet him. I was in Salzburg that Summer singing on a Tour. He was heavy but only 40 years old. He was very nice. Mirella Freni and Jose Carreras were singing Don Carlo in the same place, they were back stage in his dressing room to. I hit the Jackpot that night.

The top is very unsteady- ‘ah si quest’ONta’ has a decided quiver on the penultimate syllable, as does the C.

Hmm, he actually skips a lot of the last line... don't blame him though. A lot that sing it sound ragged by the time they then get to the last note.

I ALWAYS skipped most of the final lines of the cabaletta...and STILL used to crack the high C! I think the only tenor I ever heard who sang the whole thing was Roswaenge.

Yeah I've got a recording of Villazon doing it and while he doesn't crack, it does sound painful. But I'm not looking at that part yet, only been looking at the aria for a day. My problem at the moment is actually the last G, that 'qua' sound is tricking my voice forward and I end up pushing too much.

Alex S-Roberts I did Alfredo in Traviata last Nov. Anf I TOTALLY get what you mean. Needless to say I didn't sing the O mio rimorso at the end. *Sigh* to be a tenor huh?

As much as I want to love his voice, Pavarotti’s is extremely annoying to listen to. Too much squillo not enough Scuro blended into the sound. Sounds almost shrill.

Too bad u didnt hear him live...all that "squillo" is what make it sound like stereo surround sound live...its a shivering feeling.
