Even after months of viewing this, I still become oblivious to all else while watching Luciano's Il Canto with his wonderful cast of Italian characters. He's never loomed large on my radar. Still, I can see and feel what this means to the world of opera. I am amazed at the sadness I feel after his death, as if he were a close family member. It's a numbing, terrible loss.
