When I was a kid in the late 70's my Mom's car broke down in Del Mar CA and happened to right in front of Desi Arnas's Mom' s house. She helped us out. She gave my Mom $50 and called us a cab. She was so sweet. Even gave us cookies! What a sweetheart. I will never forget that.

Traci Olson Tour busses used to disgorge tourists on the cul de sac at the Houston home of GHW Bush and Barbara. Barbara in her autobiography complained because many wanted to enter her front yard. She definitely did not welcome them with cookies. The TX legislature passed a bill which allowed any street where a POTUS lived to be gated. Whenever I passed by there was a shiny police car either entering, leaving, or parked across the street. GWB lives on a similarly gated street in Dallas.

It did look prettier, with more charm with the black&white shuttered windows. The stuco color has more of a spanish, mordern look. Drove by this many times and it was very open, no fence, with their big cars parked in the driveway, but never any Lucy!

It's a shame what they've done to the exterior. It used to be SO beautiful and full of charm! I always thought that house (in it's former state with the black shutters and window boxes) was one of the most beautiful celebrity houses because it looked so homey and inviting...even though it was technically a mansion. Now it just looks like your standard cookie cutter Beverly Hills house. I also found it incredible that there were no walls, gates, or fences in the front...right up until Lucy died. Celebrities today could never get away with that kind of openness.

I remember so well in the late 70's and 80's while living in LA and quite near to the Lucy home. While it is still recognizable it is quite different. As you say the entrance is very different and I don't ever remember the gate at the inner drive. You could always see a Rolls Royce in the drive. I was only in the house as a guest for a small dinner party once, however, I will always remember in fondly. Lucy was a great lady and an incredible talent. She will always be remembered. Now living in Palm Beach, Florida I look back on my LA days as some of the best times in my life.

I remember watching I Love Lucy since I was around six years old I had a sad childhood and watching I Love Lucy brought a ton of joy into my life. So I decided I had to give something back. When I was 23 years old around 1975 a friend of mine told me her address. That weekend I bought the biggest bouquet of flowers that I could carry and Atwood My Heart Beating A Thousand Miles a minute I walked up the walkway and knocked on the door figuring that the housekeeper would answer it and I would give her the flowers with a note on it and ask the person to please give it to Lucy. Well to my shock Lucy open the door herself and I didn't know what to say and she did know what to say but she just started crying and she said are those for me and I said yes and I thanked her for all those years of joy that she and the rest of the cast provided for me while I was a little kid. She gave me a big hug and I said I didn't want to take up any more of your time and that I left. But that's the day I will remember forever. Obviously. Thank you for this video and a trip down memory lane

@@DrGariS Yep we sure did ! It was kinda late around 8 at night and other star seekers were walking around taking photos of her house and me and my gf just got the nerve to walk up and knock on the door 😳 I wouldn’t do that today to a famous persons house of course lol But for some reason back then and our age we didn’t think it was wrong! lol She was so sweet and she first opened the little peep door it was a little door in the door that had 3 or 4 medal slats in it that was shaped like a house 🏡 she opened that and said can I help you ! And then I said omg hi Miss Ball I am tricia and I am one of your biggest fans and me and my gf brought you a rose to give you and she said well hello girls so nice to meet you please leave it on my door step and I will get it in a bit she said she was In her robe 😳 And she couldn’t open the door like that ! We understood and said thank you so much for taking the time to talk with us! We left the rose ❤️ And we walked away ! We were on cloud 9 ❤️

I've been at this house years ago. Me and my friend looked into the backyard from the alleyway. We had to stand on the rooftop of my car! Guest House in the backyard. Nice yard

So cool... Great seeing more detailed view of it. They actually did a decent job remodeling it, while keeping it recognizable. I've sometime driven up and down Roxbury at night after work assignment I used to have in Beverly Hills - Dreaming, as some of us poor folks do. Had wondered where her house was. Imagine *how loaded* you have to be to remodel a house in Beverly Hills?!

The now hipped roof dormers on the edge of the roof replacing the original through the cornice gable-roofed dormers now look especially superfluous now that the eave or cornice extends right through them.

I read somewhere that Lucy bought this house for only $85,000. It's crazy that these old Hollywood stars' homes were much cheaper back then than they are today!
@DrGariS Жыл бұрын
Yes. This is true. I have another video with the cast members’ homes and that is correct that this was bought for $85k.

I enjoyed your tour videos a lot. I loved Lucy, and I had read before how the present owners changed her home a lot after purchasing it, and that someone saw Lucy's ghost (!) standing in the driveway looking at the house probably wondering what the heck happened to it! I have tried to find out what Golden Age celebrities still actually live in Hollywood or Bel Air, but it keeps showing homes of the younger celebrities! I know Angie Dickinson does, and I'm sure there are others as well.
