Ryan gets it! Yes the stars colliding symbolizes Clark and Lois' burgeoning relationship and foreshadowing the romance. Clark is the slow meteor just floating along in space while Lois is the bright, fiery comet who collides with him and helps push him to accelerate his trajectory aka, helps him to better realize his destiny along the way. It's the cosmic version of Lois punching Clark in the arm. Hahaha

I agree with Ryan about the stars. That's what a lot of fans got from that scene - it was about Lois and Clark. The lyrics to the song playing at the time suits that theory. I wish we had more Lois and Lex scenes. Loved the interview with Peyton and learning that Michael loves helping children. Clark leaping onto the truck is still one of my favorite scenes.

I really liked this episode. I felt like Lois had the weight of the world on her shoulders when it came to making her dad proud of her. She really took on the role of mom and sister. Payton was excellent as Lucy and I liked that we got to see that. I don't think that any other "Superman" tv show or movie talked about Lucy. I liked that big jump from the bridge onto the rig and I'm glad they used that in the opening credits for most of the series. I like the Lana twist at the end. I give this a rose and a half and I would show this episode to people. I go the Tom route and ask myself if I would show episodes to people.

we learn alot about Lois in this ep. and the barn scene is really important in her developing relationship w Clark and how it's able to be so strong. on 1st watch, I didn't love that it took 4 years b4 they started to feel romantic about each other (and don't get me wrong i still would have liked an earlier wrap on Clark/Lana) but now it makes so much sense and really means something. if they had gotten to where they were in S9 and 10 but just from the start in S4 within a few eps (the way every other Superman content does w them) it would have felt forced or less realistic. I mean, I don't have a problem w the "love at 1st sight" or them being attracted to each other right away in all the other content, but they are always made to have an almost instant and unbreakable connection like RIGHT AFTER just meeting. and now that we see the contrast of their relationship developing naturally and evolve the way it does (w all the ups and downs) it makes all the other content feel less impactful in comparison. I mean think about how Clark goes from suggesting Lois "sleeps in the barn" to saying "come after her again and I will end you" (lol still gives me chills)... this is why they are the best "Lois and Clark" on top of their portrayals independently being the best Clark and the best Lois ❤

I loved how they waited so long. I love a good build up, especially in romances. They can get to know eachother without any pressure or drama. I also love how Clark wears blue and red clothes. No symbol, but still see him wear his iconic colors. They picked the perfect shades of red and blue, while we wait till he becomes Superman. This helped me to enjoy being patient in my own life and enjoy any kind of build up life gives me, instead of rushing things.

This episode has good character moments with Lois, Clark, and Lex. Though Lois comes across as confident and tough, we now see her hidden insecurities and sometimes low self esteem underneath, due to her childhood. We also see Lois's devotion to those she loves. Clark and Lois have a great scene at the end where they break through their usual pattern of teasing to both support and admire the other. The episode also hints at their future romantic destiny. They flirtingly look at each other while the song in the background plays "written in the wind...now it all begins...you've got to fly..." Then Clark sees two shooting stars colliding with each other. We also get great Clark and Lex moments. They're smiling and laughing together in the coffee shop like old friends, and they're working together again. At times it feels like the old days. Lex has a beautiful line he says to Clark "You're closer to me than any blood brother." It's bittersweet knowing that it won't last. We see what could have been between them. This episode touches on the Superman mythos again with both Lex and Lois comparing their flawed families, and the pain they cause, to the ideal of the Kent family. Clark is who is not only by birth, but also by how the Kents raised him with kindness and unconditional love. Thanks for another fun Talkville!

49:22. Dude, It's not like this was your last season. You had three more seasons on this show where you acted with Clark out of high school. How TF can you possibly have so little grasp on the show you were in for seven years? It's actually impressive.

Admittedly, not the best episode, but whoever made the call for Clark making that semi truck overpass jump made the right call. That was DOPE. Also, it's funny that Peyton was like "I do NOT look the same," as if that's a bad thing. I think she's even more attractive now.

Cap-Less Tom is always a REAL treat! Yay! Lucy Lane herself Peyton List! Grateful to see you guys were able to get Peyton for her first very special episode! Great to hear from her and that she is a fan of the series! NICE to hear that Tom actually did the jump on the truck! That "skateboard" trick with the "Truck Jump" is totally awesome to know! Like Ryan said, "REALLY COOL!" Great to hear Tom enjoy the scenes with Lionel in this one! Fingers crossed you guys will be able to get Michael Ironside on the podcast too! Lex's assistant in this episode is the first appearance from Erica Cerra! The woman who orders the coffee from Lois in the Talon scene is an American journalist named Danya Devon. She was the host of the show "eXTRA" at the time. Here is a clip of her on set with Tom & Michael!: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o8qgepCkyq-ado0.html/

While not the greatest episode of the season by far, this episode is one of my favorites just because of the amazing action scenes with Clark jumping from the bridge to the truck, then taking over the truck. The execution of that scene from the VFX guys, Tom, and the director and crew was just amazing! One of the best action scenes visually in the whole series.

After this ending scene Mark Joseph's "Fly" found a permanent place on my playlist 😍such a great song! Lucy is one of my favorite eps and this was actually a super pleasant podcast! And surprisingly informative, too, got to know some new stuff. But omg Peyton, I'm completely charmed by her, had no idea she was this lovely - absolutely one of my favorite Talkville guests ever already. So chill, friendly and with calming vibes and the love for show. Also let's gooo Ryan from Lit Class with that excellent analysis lol, very spot on. When the caller mentioned dragging Clark and Lana out, I keep thinking how Michael and Ryan probably still have NO IDEA exactly how long that will take 🤣they may even be thinking that this is the extent of it 🤣

I imagine they'll be very frustrated and I'm very excited to see their reactions lol

Thanks guys!! Great podcast!! Really enjoyed having Peyton List as a guest. She had some wonderful insights and it is nice that Smallville helped launch her career. Kudos to Ryan for understanding the two stars colliding are metaphors for Lois and Clark. Most 10 ten Clois lists including the recent Ms Mojo include that scene along with their first meeting in the cornfield and the dunk tank. Clark's jump is one of the best stunts in the whole show and I believe it was used in the opening credits for the rest of the series. Two roses for Lucy more for the foreshadowing of Lois and Clark than the actual storyline.

I thought I remembered that. I’m not sure which season but I remember there being an episode maybe in season 8, 9 or 10 when Clark is missing and Lois went to feed Shelby and even brought Shelby back to the Talon. And something about Chloe covering for Clark about.

Is there an edit with Peyton? She was talking how she was a fan of the show, then it cuts to Tom asking specifics about the episode. It seems like the transition should be - "what was it like being a fan and then all of the sudden there you are with the cast and part of the show? Was it surreal?" Missed opportunity, especially when fans like to hear the BTS stuff.

Loved Peyton and Lucy. I really wish we got to see more of her and the General. But I will say it’s a bit disappointing and jarring that Ryan was the only one to understand the symbolism in the last scene with Lois and Clark. The foreshadowing used for their relationship is one of the most beautiful aspects of the show. It adds more layers to their growing relationship and definitely leaves the audience more excited for what’s to come. The writers may not have chosen to jump into their relationship (which is great bc the slow burn was perfect) but they definitely knew how to keep us engaged and intrigued. Can’t wait for the next episode.

The skiing at the beginning was just to show that Lucy was "living the life of Riley" compared to Lois, who suggests her life with the General was always harder. Also, the skiing opens the door to a more involved and mysterious Lucy.
