I'm much more impressed with Luenell after this interview. She was on point in a variety of ways in a way that about 90 percent of talking heads simply don't understand. Namely, the reality that non-black people LOVE the idea of blackness, but not the reality. Everyone loves that image, because it looks cool...until you've got police profiling you, or being treated like you're guilty in a department store because dark skin as a threat or menace has perpetuated itself for centuries. Which is something so many white people are ignorant about...yes, these problems predate all of us...and continue today BECAUSE they haven't been addressed. Yes, you're part of a history that would step over black entertainers to flock and make megastars out of white ones doing essentially a very good imitation job (Glenn Miller vs. Duke Ellington, Elvis vs. Fats Domino, Little Richard, Chuck Berry and John Lee Hooker, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin vs. Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Robert Johnson, Vanilla Ice! vs EVERYONE [11 million in sales for To The Extreme], and now Eminem, Adele, Miley, and Iggy Azalea). Someone stated it below perfectly and it was even referenced in Spike Lee's best film, Do The Right Thing: White people love rich and famous blacks, but then turn around and carry prejudice against rank and file blacks. And hey, if you get rich and dare to say you relate/connect to those rank and file blacks, whites will turn on you (see: Knowles, Beyonce). We've treated blackness as a commodity on one hand to take from willy nilly on an individual basis, but also as something to aspire to get away from. That's why essentially celebrities like Vin Diesel, Wentworth Miller, etc don't have to be black...because they don't LOOK black. It's really that simple. And that's not new either. Europeans did the same thing in Africa...robbing the continent of much of its natural resources during colonization, while making dark skin something to be viewed as abhorrent and to be shunned. Blacks in America only have one resource...our culture. So whites pick and choose what they want from that, while continuing by and large to make dark skin a menace when you're not rich, successful, or famous. So kudos to a comedienne for making a valid point that often isn't discussed or gets avoided.

To this day, the most disturbing guy in a dress was Deandre Jordan in the hoopers commercial...
