Lufthansa Boeing 747-8 Business Class upper deck review from LAX to FRA

Today we are flying upstairs in business class on the Queen of the Skies the Boeing 747-8 on Lufthansa. It's been many years since I have been on the 747 and I can't wait to fly her today. Lufthansa used to be an airline I loved flying on, but this trip was very questionable. My mom at one point told the flight attendant that the bathroom was out of toilet paper and hand towels, and the flight attendants response was "there is another toilet up front"! Decided to go with the Upgrade on my early Winter European journey. My first leg will be LAX to FRA on the queen in business. My return will be on Air Canadas new 787’s. Cannot wait!

Thank you for sharing your flight on this first leg of your trip. First of, you made me laugh when you said TWA!!! Wow!! The last time I flew on TWA was back in the early 1990s on a beautiful L1011. That was so nice back then with the lunch service that I had. Great memories with some of the older airlines. Well, I see you had upstairs on this airline. Yes, I have flown upstairs on the 747-400s from United. Yes, flying upstairs is nice and you feel like it is more private upstairs as well. I hope you get to eat a little more in the lounge at Frankfort International Airport on your way back. Yes, the food in the lounges can be a little bit better with more selections.

I flew Business Class FRA>SFO last Feb (top deck, same seat as you). My service was exactly the same. They never came around and offered drinks etc. I had to get up and disturb the flight attendant reading a newspaper. It is disappointing. If I wasn't an AvGeek only flying that route for the 747, I would definitely be more annoyed. But as it stands, flying top deck is such and exciting experience.

It's very disappointing for sure! Unfortunately customer service seems to be on the decline these days. Im going to be reviewing First Class on an American Airlines Neo next week and am very curious how that service is. Have not flown American in a while. Thank you for your comment.

I’m taking the upper deck flight to and from Frankfurt (headed to Austria for the Formula 1 race next weekend). I hope the food and service is better on my roundtrip flight. I haven’t flown a 747 in a decades.

Yes you are correct. That is my 2004 S430. Love that car. I will be making a video review of the 2023 S580 when it gets back from it's very first service. See if you can guess which one I'm driving in my Challenger 604 video. Hint, it's not an S class.

@@Kevin-B i have never been 2ed floor 747, but i am planning try lufthansa 747-8 2ed floor next few months, the only concert is did you feel just like a 737 with some business seats at upper deck?

As a German I only can apologize for that lousy flight. But LH FAs are well known for their special arrogant behaviour and it is every time amazing again how they can evaporate during the whole flight. Fingers crossed that the flight back will be much much better! 😊

Hi, yes it was pretty lousy service for sure. My mom told the flight attendant that the toilet paper and hand towels were empty, and the flight attendant literally said "use the other bathroom then". Pretty bad. The return flight has got to be better lol.
