Just returned from a 4 day break in Lugano last week. Weather beautiful, location peaceful (even in summer), clean, calm and perfect. Trains connect well, down into Italy or up into main Swiss locations.

I'm thinking of moving toward the Italian speaking side of Switzerland. I come from America, and run my own business which requires frequent travel. I would love to see some more exploration of Ticino. Ciao!

I took a school holiday to Gersau (on Lake Luzern) in 1967 and I loved Switzerland so much, when my wife and I were arranging our honeymoon, I convinced her that we should go to Switzerland. We chose Lugano due to location, its Italian influences and climate. That was in 1971 and we have been visiting Switzerland frequently (often making our base in Lugano) ever since, often travelling by car from England. If my standard of living, earnings and now my pensions (let alone my nationality) allowed it, I would decide to spend the rest of my days there in the blink of an eye. This, regretfully, is not to be.

Not really anymore, it's became crowded it's takes more than 20 minutes to make 2 km by car inside Lugano , after 5pm you're trapped inside the town because in the highway you can't move, to make 25 km it's can take more than 1 hour at that time...and life it's expensive like in Bern if you live in Lugano

I live in Mendrisio (near Lugano) and one thing that you didn’t say is that in Ticino there’s a lot of traffic and pollution, and that is one of the worst things here🥲

@@piotrk141 Pros: Lots of activities to do, nice public transport system, nice scenery, in general there are a lot of nice things you can discover and enjoy. Cons: endless traffic (in all the territory), noise, the weather is not always the best, its really hot and sunny or rainy and cold, bad salaries, actually Ticino is the worst Canton to live if you speak about money in general, like "cassa malati" or others costs are really high. And at the end I would mention the people, that in my opinion is not always that friendly or at least interested in what is going on in general, but that's my opinion. Ask me without hesitation if you have others question!

(the influence of the Italian disposition). or maybe the natives are fed up with tourists / strangers and prefer to stick with each other? Are there many Residents in Ticino who work remotely, e.g. in USA?

We don't have crime😉😁 just some weed and other drugs selling very very low stealing, no gun figt sometimes but you can count on your hands knives attack mostly between drug dealers or young drunk outside night clubs, children of 6 goes to school alone👋🇨🇭

Another brilliant video. Lugano looks amazing! Question: If I'm thinking of moving to Switzerland, would you recommend learning Swiss German or standard German? I already speak French. I have an online business too, so I won't need to be job hunting. Thanks!

I would recommend standard German, but learning some basic words and phrases in Swiss German

Standard German is a good foundation. Even if many say that the Swiss do not like to speak in normal German, they are very happy to do so if they know that you still want to learn the language.
