I recently bought and assembled one of Clean Air Kits' "Bedroom Luggables", with five fans along the front. It's as good as I was hoping--very quiet, to the point where most people should be able to sleep with one in a bedroom, without also needing the separately available (not from them) fan speed controller that they describe if you want to try one out. It's much quieter than a small to mid-sized air purifier on medium speed. But if you're especially sensitive to sound while sleeping, so that you need complete silence, these kits aren't silent, but if you locate the unit some place in the room where the fans aren't pointing directly at you while you're in bed, then you're unlikely to really hear them. I have mine right next to the head of my bed, though it's a pullout couch bed, so most of the tiny amount of fan sound is blocked by the side of the couch bed, but even the flimsiest earplugs are able to keep out any remaining, very faint fan sound. It also doubles as a personal fan, directing air over and cooling me while I'm seated at my desk with my hot computer and TV churning away, pulling up cooler air from floor level.

Why are they made oF cardboard? And still cost hundreds dollars. Am I missing something?

These will outperform HEPA filters when using MERV 13 filters due to the higher airflow. The net small particle removal is greater than those commercial overpriced units.

Unfortunately the feet numbers would not stick to the fiber board over time but easy to glue them back on.

Can these units be placed directly against a wall or do you recommend them to be off a wall for better airflow?
@richichichi78
@richichichi78 4 ай бұрын
Ah. I see now there are filters on both sides. So would have to be off the wall.
@cleanairkits
@cleanairkits 4 ай бұрын
The one narrow side can go against a wall but the filters need to be at least a couple inches off.

I didn't fully understand. Is it really more efficient to suck air from outside of the box through the filters instead of pushing it from the box through the filters? With the current design, won't there be a lot of particles staying on the outer layer of the box (on the filters), and when the whole device is turned off, wouldn't part of them fall off?
@cleanairkits

Because the filters do electrostatic capture, most of the fine particles are actually caught inside the fabric not on its surface. Fans blowing outward keeps the fans clean and circulates room air better, at expense of filters greying from the outside first.

Hello i want to order one of those but i am in Europe, do i need to buy an external adapter for the wall plugs because i think they are different?
@cleanairkits
@cleanairkits 16 күн бұрын
Yes you can get our USBC to 12V adapter cable or a local wall plug with 12V DC barrel 5.5x2.1mm connector

I want to try installing quieter fans in the unit I've already fully assembled. Is there a trick to removing the fans from a completed unit? Do they come out safely if I just pull?
@cleanairkits
@cleanairkits 5 ай бұрын
Yes they should come off safely if you just pull. Though if you ordered pre-assembled there might be some superglue on some of the push pins to keep them from vibrating loose during shipping. You might have to cut those with a pliers. You can find more here: a.co/d/43lda5h

Can the bumpers be put on the long side/bottom?
@JohnMSawyer
@JohnMSawyer 2 ай бұрын
@@DallasNatureLover : Sure, but on this model, the short side, with the handle, is the bottom side. Though of course you can place this model's long, non-fan side on the floor instead.

Which way do the filters face?
@JoeSondow
@JoeSondow 6 ай бұрын
Filters have an arrow on the side showing the direction of air flow. The air should flow from outside the box to inside the box through the filter, so each filter's arrow should point toward the inside of the box.

Curiously on the filters I received,.. the large bold lettering is on the opposite side of the filter than in this here helpful demonstration video. However the arrows on the filter clearly show which side should face inwards.

Sorry, I’m sure you get this question a lot. If we are concerned with odors/VOCs/gases, is there any way to adapt your purifiers with a carbon filter layer? I know other brands of purifiers do have carbon filters but after watching videos exposing the BS marketing of air purifiers, I’m not really trusting any brand besides yours!
@HuheJass
@HuheJass 4 ай бұрын
You shouldn’t have any issues adding a high flow carbon filter behind, or in front of, your mirv filter- That said, if you really want to filter out VOC’s and such, you should look into making, or buying, a ‘can’ style carbon filter- (the type you fill with 10lbs of activated charcoal) This guy - the 3d handyman -talks about what makes filters work, and has a design with a carbon trap for ~$200 on his shop. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m79_qdGi1L2YeGQ.htmlsi=rLJCUtT04-sGVz6R However, it should be noted that the airflow required to use a carbon trap will make it more loud than these computer fan run models.. (will sound like a box/shop fan when on)

@@HuheJass Thank you for this info! Noise is a concern in our situation. Do you know of a carbon filter that would fit with either the luggable, table, or tower? I searched through Filterete but didn’t see any carbon/VOC filters
@HuheJass
@HuheJass 4 ай бұрын
@@surrendertoflow78 Of course! I completely understand, noise is the main reason I'm still interested in the clean air kits designs. Yes, if I were using a carbon filter in conjunction with a kit like this, I would use one of these (you can look the following up to find)- GreenR3 1-PACK Cut-to-Fit Carbon Pad 16 x 48 inches for Air Filters Charcoal Sheet fits Air Purifiers Range Hoods Furnace Filters removes Odor VOC Parts Accessories Replacement Replenishment and more Or some sort of 'charcoal sheet' seems like a great passive solution for smell and VOC control- Passive meaning it's not going to be enough to eliminate consistently generated fumes indoors- (say from epoxies or indoor projects) -However, it should be enough to bring the average/normal level of indoor VOC's down.
@HuheJass
@HuheJass 4 ай бұрын
@@surrendertoflow78 It really doesn’t like me suggesting the exact names of Amzn items.. (my comments just disappear) but you can try looking up something like ‘cut to fit charcoal sheet’ or ‘charcoal sheet filter pad’. I would look for something as big, or bigger than the filter you’re using so it’s easy to cover the whole filter. I would also place it on the incoming air side- If you want to use it as a pre filter to extend your filter life- Or on the outgoing air side, if you want to increase the carbon sheets life- (it won’t make a massive difference either way, but whichever filter the air goes through first will need to be changed more often) Edit: it looks like my last iteration did actually post! Anyways good luck to you and your family! If you want an easy plug in solution these kits are a great deal- I will say, IF you’re an avid DIY’er then you could probably make your own for about 1/2 the cost, but keep in mind how much your time is worth- (if it’s too valuable to spare a couple days making your own, then paying an extra $70 isn’t too bad- I’m just a ‘broke collage kid’ so I’m considering making my own lol)
