I first found out about Luis Miguel while watching the movie Speechless in the early 90s and although I didn’t know Spanish I was amazed at his voice. Fast forward to today, I have 10+ albums of his, saw him in concert thrice, and my wife and I will be seeing him every time he comes back to Dallas. He is Mexican, even though he was born in Puerto Rico because his father (Spanish) was working there, his father was a very talented musician, he played the Spanish guitar. His mother was Italian but he was raised in Mexico. He started singing when he was just 10, recorded his first album at the age of 12. He won his first Grammy at 15, he has 12 now (6 American Grammy, and 6 Latin Grammy). He has sold more than 100 million albums always singing in Spanish. Im from Mexico, grew up listening to him, I watched him twice in concert, and that is my favorite song of all times, starts saying:"thinking of you, remembering you, I discover every dawn, feeling you, more and more in me, I wait for the sun more than once.....and I found out that this time without love, made me realize, that even there are more roads to follow, my hope keeps growing just thinking of you...." it's hard to translate, if you do it word by word it might not make sense, hope this gives you an idea.

Luis Miguel is the best Latin singer ever. He is singing since he has 11 years so it was in the 80s. Last year in June I went to a concert of him in Prudential Center NJ it’s was amazing. The song is very much explicit about it's meaning : "thinking of you" as it's tittle, and it's a timeless example of liricys conveying feeling despite instrumentation, music helps, but the preformance on the vocals and the liricys are everything in this song

Hey Renaissance Man! How you doin'...? This song has a beautiful and interesting story.... Let me start briefly answering some of your questions. Luis Miguel was born in Puerto Rico in 1970. His father was a Spanish singer who lived in Mexico years before Luis Miguel was born and was sort of famous singer when he was a child; anyway Luis Miguel's mother was Italian, and even he was born in Puerto Rico, weeks later his parents moved back to Mexico where he grew up and became one of the most greatest and famous singers in Latin America. He became famous practically instantly when he launched his first album at the age of 11. The video you reacted to was filmed in 1994 when he was 24. All right, back to the song's story. In 1993 Luis Miguel launched an album called Aries (which is his zodiac), and "Pensar en Ti" was one of the singles. By that time he was already a super star and was famous in all Latin America and Spain. He was couple years away to be invited to Sinatra's birthday party where he sang Come Fly With Me for him. Back to the story again, ha! Please take note that everything you'll read from this point, was shared by the writer of the song years ago; so basically is a true story. Couple years before the album Aries was launched (1990...92) a Cuban songwriter, Francisco Céspedes, flew to Mexico to try himself either as a songwriter or singer. He spent months working for tips singing at coffee shops, restaurants, etc. And one day he listened to Luis Miguel singing, and he went... "this guy should be singing my songs!" So after that he started asking to his friends info about him, which company was he working with, how to get in touch, etc. As mentioned before, Luis Miguel was a big star by then so get in touch with him it was as difficult as get in touch with the US president. So anyway, time went by and Francisco was already broke and tired of getting nowhere so he decided to fly back to Cuba, but just before that a friend of Francisco called and told him that Luis Miguel was looking for new songs for his new album and that could be the chance Francisco was looking for. So, the very next he went to the Warner's offices in Mexico City and asked for a couple minutes with Luis Miguel but they told him to leave his songs and they would call, but he said "no! I want to talk with him, to explain my work..." anyway, a day went by, two, three, five... a week, and he spent all those days at Warner right from when they open until the lights when out, frequently without even eating in order to get in touch with Luis Miguel. After almost two weeks, one of the man working for Luis Miguel told Luis Miguel, "...hey dude, there's a guy outside insisting in talking with you. He says he's a songwriter but he looks homeless and nobody knows him, I believe he's from Cuba, what do you want to do?" Luis Miguel asked if he had some sort of demo, a tape or something. But he didn't, however he could perform for him right away, Francisco said. So finally he was invited to meet Luis Miguel and shared the lyrics with him and Francisco started singing "Pensar en Ti" for him. By the middle of the song Luis Miguel stopped him and gave him the good news, the song was going to be on the new album and he even chose 3 or 4 more songs. At the end I think he recorded 2 songs from Céspedes for that album (he did more years later though), and as Francisco said some time later, that song, that album, gave him all he is today. And the best performance of all times for that song was given by Luis Miguel that night live at the Auditorio Nacional (the theater you were reacting to). From that point Francisco became famous as a songwriter because it was "touched by the Midas of the music" in Latin America, and he recorded his songs years later when he became a signer as well.
