A compilation of 2 very good Cuban Heavyweights with similar styles and size. King Kong and Nino!

Luis Ortiz - Is a Cuban professional boxer. He held the WBA interim heavyweight title from 2015 to 2016, and challenged twice for the WBC heavyweight title in 2018 and 2019. As an amateur, he won a silver medal at the 2005 Boxing World Cup. Nicknamed "King Kong", he is known for his formidable punching power and counter-punching skills.
Nino Valdes - Was a Cuban professional boxer who was Cuba's national heavyweight boxing champion in the 1940s and 1950s. Valdés was a top contender for the heavyweight title during the mid 1950s, although he never received a shot due to his mixed results in the ring. Ring Magazine ranked Valdez as high as the #2 contender in its annual rankings for 1958 and he was highly ranked in several other years.

The Real King Kong and Nino! These Cuban Heavyweights have always intrigued me because I've seen a similarity between them both in the way they look and their styles in the ring despite Ortiz being a Southpaw and Valdes an orthodox fighter. They also share the same distinction that they were both top Heavyweight contenders but never won a world title. Valdes was one of the best Heavyweights in the mid-late 1950's and was ranked in the top 10 for a number of years in that decade, Ortiz got 2 shots at the WBC Heavyweight title against Deontay Wilder but lost twice. 2 excellent fighters and an interesting comparison! www.patreon.com/haNZAgod

Such an awesome idea and a great way of executing! I love comparing boxers of old to modern boxers. It's interesting to see the evolution and devolution of the sport in many ways.

Both great contenders in heavyweight history, I love me some aggressive Cubans, nothing more elegant than that to me.

Crazy how Valdes was considered huge for his time but was considerably smaller than Ortiz

Rumors say they are actually the same person and luis ortiz was born in 1924. And yes that would mean he was almost 100 years old when he first fought wilder. Pretty impressive.

I mean his reported age is 44 if he is any older than that then it'd only be by a couple years at most. Makes his career even more impressive if you ask me, I wonder how he'd have fared in his prime.

Anyone can get dropped by Wilder I wouldn't say that's a sign of having a poor chin. It's the Heavyweight division anyone can go at any point.

@@hanzagodHis punch resistance was completely off even at the second fight, and Martin could send on the canvas with a jab. Ruiz also.. He could beat Andy Ruiz even at age of 43 if his punch resistance still there

Ortiz could have been champion. Al Haymon refused to let him step in and face Joshua, instead he allowed Ruiz Jr. To fight him...and then history happened. Also the scandalous recovery that was given to Wilder in their first fight!
