i think what went wrong is that the mavs as a team did not show up. which leads to luka trying to will the team on his own. it's a domino effect. the mavs always give away big leads in the early stages of the game. luka tries to keep the game close, which is really tiring. when no one steps up, who else will? that makes it look like luka is to blame, but in reality, they, as a team failed. they worked well as a team during the western playoff games, but in the finals, it was just luka who has his eyes set on the trophy. all the other guys seemed to have lost their confidence. most of them are first timers on a finals game. im a mav fan btw, since dirk nowitzki era. they're gonna bounce back for sure. #WeBelieve

I've never heard the blow by stat until this series. Has this been tracked since whenever or it just because Luka's defense so bad that they have to bring this stat? Regarding Luka, if this loss doesn't light up his butt to work on D, other young stars like SGA, Ant, etc. might get their first ring before him.

Luka is still a top three player in basketball but you do wonder how long it might take him to get back on this stage and if he will be willing to change his game and his mentality to achieve a championship. @@007milefoelifetrash take by a casual. Luka was definitely not in the shape he needs to be in but he was INJURED the entire playoffs and completely gassed by the Celtics series bc he has to hard carry the offense even when his 3pt shooting fell off hard due to little lift due to being INJURED. He averaged the most steals in the playoffs and anyone who actually watches knows his defense improved a lot this year and he turned it up in the playoffs too until the injuries and conditioning got to him. Regular season he was the best player in the world and still is. And he’ll be back to the finals in no time. I’m happy people can let their frustrations out about him bitching to refs bc as a Luka fan I don’t give af that he cries a lot. Definitely not a fan of this video. Yes, Luka has his flaws. Everything you say is mostly right, eventhough I think you exagarated certain points and/or the context of these points. And it is also nothing new. We know Luka complains too much, does not defend well enough (also he has proved he can in some games) and has not the best body language in the world. I personnaly think he needs help other than just trying to have a better behavior because it looks like it goes deeper than that (only my opinion of course regarding this). And maybe he has already started this process, who knows, but in any case I think it will take time and that it is not an off switch thing. Besides that, the timing to release this video is very bad in my opinion. The finals are barely over and we immediatly get a blaming Luka video. Which, for obvious timing reasons, you had all prepared to release the second Dallas would lose. We should celebrate Boston more than blaming Luka for the time being. The Celtics should have the spotlight for what they just did, the perseverance, their great season overall, etc. Had you release the same video a week later, it would not have felt the same way, definitely. I hope the will behind this video was not motivated by having clicks only, because I do like your content otherwise and think the analyses you have provided in your other videos are relevant.

Luka is average to maybe even slightly above average on defense, but his focus and effort level there is wildly inconsistent. I know he had some injuries to his knees and chest, which probably limited a lot of what he could do, but even before those it's been an issue. He REALLY needs to control his ref complaining however, I see that as his biggest issue. Complaining about calls will just make the refs not want to call anything for you anyway. He also really needed help in this series, Kyrie was M.I.A., as was nearly every teammate he had.

I do disagree with a lot of the points and numbers tho. He made some pretty great defensive plays in the clutch in the playoffs especially against Minnesota when he broke up that lob to Gobert in game 2. I was at the game 2 in la against the clippers and he locked down kawhi in the clutch. He also played really good defense in game 4 of this series and you can blame him a bit for game 3 but he still had 30 points. I also thought the game where he fouled out was a charge on brown and should’ve been overturned. I thought Luka beat him to the spot and brown extended the arm which meant Luka couldn’t get fully set so I don’t blame him for being pissed. Bottom line, is the mavs didn’t lose this series because of Luka. They lost it because their role players were terrible and kyrie was abysmal in every game at Boston. Sure, he can get better on defense, but then you need more guys who can crest and reliable hit shots. Is it really reasonable to ask a guys to score 30 and set everyone up for open shots for over 100 games of the season and play great defense in a loaded western conference? Lebron didn’t necessarily do that, Steph didn’t do that, Tim Duncan didn’t do that, Tatum and brown definetly didn’t do that and they all one championships as the best players in their teams.

You can’t expect a guy to run 75 percent of the offense at an elite level and also play elite defense every game. And my point is if you look at all time players and best players on championship teams that’s not their job.

I don't think it's that he cares about defense. It's more he doesn't care to get into better shape. This way he doesn't need to save himself for offense as much. . Main reason for series loss is because of how much better the Celtics supporting cast is vs the Mav's. Getting little help from Kyrie only makes it more difficult. As it will mean Luka needs to do more on offense. Would have never thought he would put a 5.6/4.6 AST/TO stat line though. Overall play style reminds me of James Harden with the Rockets. Tons of effort on offense, with frequent defensive lapses. His constant complaining is annoying. Especially when it hurts them on the defensive end. I tend to think his constant compaining is substantially driven by being in a broken family & not having Dad around to learn some emotional control from.

If you truly watch the games and know the matchups you COULD have predicted the ass whooping that Dallas was about to receive. I did. Luka's style of play at the PG spot demands that he be surrounded with role players that don't initiate/create offense which leads to them standing around on the perimeter or waiting for lobs which can be negated if 3's aren't falling. Lack of ball movement equals predictable offense. Give up the rock.

You see, this is genuine bullshit nit-picking on Luka because none of those criticisms hardly includes the full context. And Im not excusing Luka for bad performances. He does need to be better with certain things, but this take, like most discourse outside of the Mavs fanbase, is very dramatic and honestly more hating on Luka than being critical of Luka. If anyone cares to know, Luka has been dealing with knee injuries from last year from playing overseas, and he hardly ever gets to rest from the grind he puts on his body yearly. So, while injuries are part of the game, you can not deny it affects players' performances and idk but i think it's fair the to cut Luka some slack for being human, but that's probably just me. And it didn't help that Kyrie missed out like half the season where Luka had to carry the team again, where Luka played like 45mins for a stretch of games because the Mavs had no other scoring option so Luka was putting more mileage on his body so that Mavs can be above 500. And Kidd isn't good offensively as a coach to make it easier for Luka. That blow by percentage is total bullshit stats because that wasn't a thing until that circus show, ESPN, brought it up because they needed something to bash on Luka. And im being nice with that bs blow by percentage because if you think and watch Mavericks games, Kidd's defensive scheme is literally forcing guys down the middle into the center, gambling on leaving the 3 more open, which they couldn't do against Boston because they were hitting their shots so it forced the Mavs to go out more on the perimeter and switch and help more defensively so you can't entirely blame Luka because that's what he's being told to do, is lead guy down the middle! But if you still want to hate, okay, Luka isn't fast but you can't say he doesn't put effort because he enjoys playing basketball that much and again he's banged up so you can't expect an injured player to sprint all the time. Luka was limping from time to time throughout the entire playoffs, idk what else to tell you, but you can't ask one of the slower guys in the league to move faster while injured. That's stupid. And finally, with the foul baiting. That's really a pointless argument to debate because this is just how the game has involved and is being allowed to be played. I will say, and you likely think im being a bias Mavs fan, like all sports fans, idc, but i think Luka does get treated unfairly that refs don't call actual fouls on Luka because everbody views Luka as the boy who cried wolf, which is unfair because since he's naturally bigger, hardly anybody can move Luka so that causes everyone to believe he was never fouled and naturally causes anyone who was fouled be pissed off. And refs are biased and don't like to be proven wrong, so they hate anyone who challenges them.

Bad pick bro lol I have Celtics in 5 and the idea that Luka is by far the best player in the series is laughable. Luka is just an offensive player with mediocre defense,JT and JB weren't just on the best team they were the better players vs Luka n Dallas. People fall in love with his offense til he becomes a better all around player can't put him above guys who soundly defeated him.
