Wel, you need people skills, psycology, cool head a vision and resiliance to critique to be a top manager, not just football knowledge.

He is a leader amongst Real Madrid (people skills), psychological strength is evident as he wouldn't have achieved what he has without this and he has dealt with all sorts of critiques throughout his career. His boyhood club Hajduk Split sent him packing as they said he was too small and would never become a pro, then when he went to Dinamo Zagreb, he got sent to BiH league which is worse than Croatian, but quite rough, just to toughen him up. When he was leaving for Tottenham, haters in Croatia said he wouldn't even be able to warm the bench in the EPL. Then when he went to Real Madrid, he was voted worst ever signing in his first year. He came out on top of all of that. The only question is whether he wants to stay in football.

He carries them more like leader on field. Ofc, his knowledge, love for nation and team, its very important, but, who carries Croatia, its Ivan Perisic. Noone cant make that big result like Croatia with only one player, even if he are 100 time better then Modric, or Messi, or even other legend. But, Perisic are that player who always make goal, assist, or something, in all most important games, in last decade. There is lot other players who are crazy good in national team. Modric never want be team leader, coplayers choose them becouse all love them like man. That was been much more before Modric come to Real Madrid, and he start be that famous. If he want be atractive like Messi, i think he can always, but he is always want be more team-player then individual star. Becouse that, he are in national team most time play at DMF, not AMF, or clean MF. If he can choose between assist and goal, he will always choose assist. Crazy good vision in field. Always know where is who, and where to send ball.. but, his control of ball, is most precius thing. When you give them ball, you know its safe now.

The national team is so solid, there's no 1 man carrying the game. He is the staple, but truly they play as a team, especially the 2018 edition was beautiful to watch, they're all selfless, none of them are about elevating one over another.

@@Ante-INo amigo, Modric es el motor de ese equipo. Es el que mueve los hilos, defiende, controla el balón y los tiempos, la pasa, gambetea, ataca, asiste, marca. Sin faltarle el respeto a Perisic, juega bien porque esta Modric armándole el juego. Y no solo hace jugar bien a Perisic, hace jugar bien a todos. Lo mismo pasa en el Madrid. No es casualidad que sea el balón de oro en 2018 y balon de bronce en 2022. En los partidos difíciles aparece y mueve la balanza a su favor, esta en toda la cancha. Probablemente el mejor o uno de los mejores mediocampistas de toda la historia.
