Luke 3 - Skip Heitzig

In Luke 3, we are introduced to John, the forerunner of Jesus. Although John seemed to be an unusual man and shocked many people by what he said and did, his dedication to follow the Lord is what made his life count. Jesus even said that there hasn't been anyone greater than John. As we get a glimpse into his life and character, we are directed to the message he wished to proclaim: Jesus Christ the Messiah.
This teaching is from our series 42 Luke - 2014 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Albuquerque.

As in many mornings,I start my day ,before getting out of bed, listening to Pastor Skip's Verse by Verse,Book by Book teachings which are always a blessed way to fill my mind with a spiritual breakfast .I thank God for giving me and others Pastor Skip and this Albuquerque Church and ministry.

In the course of the day too,when routine permits, my time for Bible Study is largely from Pastor Skip's teachings,live or recorded. I hope Pastor Skip and three other of my online favourite Bible teachers outlive me.

Ps Skip's messages always come alive for me bcos he brings in those "juicy" bits of biblical, Jewish background which many preachers don't ... And that for me makes the bible come alive to me ... Not flat as if we were to read it on our own without the background. Yes I truly believe Jesus came in history, completed His Father's mission by dying on the Cross .. and without Him purchasing us with His shed blood, there will be no remission of sin and we'll be doomed in eternity. And so as we celebrate Christmas tomorrow, praise God for Jesus who isn't only love but He justified us who believe ... By offering up His life in exchange for your life n mine. May many be blessed with the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ this Christmas! Amen

Dear Skip, I'm so thankful I came across your in depth teaching. I've been called on to teach the Book of Luke at a Senior Living Community. I also live here and as a senior I needed help. My attention span is not what it use to be and its hard to study like I use to. Your series is of great value. Thank you for all you do for the Kingdom.

John had it hard. I do not think he was trying to be eccentric. Rather, he ate bugs because that is all he had to eat. May we be faithful with whatever God puts before us.

I’ve been watching these teachings and they are really wonderful! I have a question for Pastor Skip. In regards to Why Jesus was baptized in Matt 3:15 when John asks Him why is he letting him baptize Him Jesus said “let it be done to fulfill all righteousness” Which of those three categories would you put that under? Or is that under all. Can you please expound that statement? (No pun intended lol) Thank you.

Hello Oladunni, This is pastor Nickolas Macedo, and I have the privilege of serving on the pastoral staff here at Calvary church. On behalf of Pastor Skip, I would like to thank you for reaching out. To answer your question, Paul mentions one Lord, one Faith, and one baptism because he is referencing that as believers, we follow the One true God, Jesus Christ. Within Jesus there is a three in one God Head, known as the trinity. This refers to God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Paul states one Lord because we must follow only God and no other masters. There one Faith because we have to choose to confide in God the Father alone. And lastly one baptism because Jesus instructed us as his followers to be baptized. “15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” (Mark 16:15-18) I hope this answers your question and is insightful for you!
