Luke Newton is having his leading man moment. The 31-year-old is this season’s romantic lead in Bridgerton, eventually [spoiler alert] falling for his best friend, Penelope, played by Nicola Coughlan. At the start of the season, Colin returns to the Ton having had something of a heartthrob makeover, but we soon learn he’s not as mature as he thinks.

The Player side was supposed to be Colin’s misguided attempt at trying to fit in with the ton’s rakes. Eloise and Penelope both see right through his fake player persona and Lady Whistledown calls him out on it in the first episode itself. It’s meant to show how lost Colin is while he’s travelling through 17 cities, because Pen has stopped responding to his letters and he cannot find an anchor anymore. By the end of Part 1 Colin himself admits that he has been trying to be someone that he wasn’t

Okay, I hate that some of you are going like "they could have done this and could have done that". Guess what season 3 has not ended yet. At least watch the whole thing before coming to your conclusions. They still have four more brilliant 55 mins episodes to go. Give them the opportunity to tell the whole story and then start hating on Polin. Like I don't know how you all can even hate Colin or Pen for that matter, but okay, people have weird opinions. It's fine, but at least watch the whole thing first.
