I m a kashmiri and during my first visit to Delhi, at first we were refused a room , the receptionist looked at my attire up and down and then with a serious face said that rooms aren't available. It's sad. Anyways, after finding a place to stay , we lost our way to the hotel and asked for directions , no one gave a proper direction even though we weren't far.

If then take somebody with you as it's not safe for strangers, you see a woman is hitting you & drunk people are moving around😂😂, you might easily get robbed or hurt. Brave of you. Used to live in Bombay and I have never been to such place either alone or with friends. These are extremely shady places so please be careful, you can get mugged and robbed. It's literally called the 'thieves market'

Locals not necessary always right. I visited Borneo part of Malaysia lately and everyone told me don't go to an island on the other side of the mainland. I went anyway and I had really good time with the people who live there. Sometimes locals have misconception about the poor people in their city and they try to avoid them, which is a shame.

In USA they say do not go near Harlem or St. louis, In UK it is Middlesbrough , It is Culiacan, Mazatlan and Tijuana in Mexico, In China it is Xinjiang, In a developed country like Sweden it is Bergsjön, Gothenburg. Everywhere in the world there is some street not just India or Mumbai. By the way where you are walking is also one of the notorious area called as Shankar Marwadi Chawl. This is the area where Kareem Lala once use to run his smuggling cartel. It is also a Red light Area aka Kamathipura. Everywhere it is safe and unsafe.

First the cab driver duped you by dropping farther away based on his convenience. Chor bazar is spread in large area, many streets, selling various junk like car parts, scooter parts, electronics, antiques etc etc. You just need to know which area you want to visit and ask a right person, someone who looks official with briefcase or a young student, they may guide you. Most other folks you were asking not many knew a word of english but still directing you confidently. Some of them looked drunk. Brod that hit you was hooker. I reccomend go with a local guide on walking adventure like this. I admire your guts brother stay safe.

Hey don't spread hate towards north india... North south east west all is india... Just looking at some few streets which are pretty dangerous don't think whole north is like that... People just see small part of delhi(old delhi) which Is dirty and have old infrastructure and judge whole north area... Delhi also have 2 other parts named new delhi and lutyent delhi which is way advanced and world class.. You can see video of aero city,delhi....and these 2 parts of delhi contributes the most in terms of area... Old delhi has very small area.. So stop doing these type of comments
