I first thought it was the word "nine" because it has the no. nine.😅

I think there are different approaches to this problem- (Spoiler: there's 3 I came up with, please leave reply if you found another.) So the first one is what half the comment section has been talking about. The word "What" has 4 letters and "Sometimes" has 9 letters. The second one is what I thought of, and probably some people did. So if the 1st approach was to take it all literally but this is to take the word 'nine' to that approach. For example, the word 'teen' would work in this context of the riddle because it is 4 letters and sometimes it has 'nine' in it, making 'nineteen(19)'. The third approach is using the fact that he did not name that the "what" was a word, only tricked us into thinking that because he names it 4 letters. This means that things that have two words for it will work. So, for the Third approach, you just have to name a thing that has two words for it or is said differently between people, that has 4 and 9 letters.
