This city knows how to eat! I'm taking you for a full day of classic Hong Kong foods! This is 24 hours of eating across Hong Kong. One of the great foodie cities of the world you will never get tired of Cantonese food.
Today we try something you may not consider Hong Kong style food : spaghetti!? That's right, cha chaan teng's serve up a unique blend of east meets west breakfast foods. After that it's strictly Cantonese, it's dim sum time! A quick ding ding ride lands us at HK's best halal dim sum joint. Next, a quick visit to the best view point in the city (if you're lucky).
We also tried the JUICIEST dumplings I have ever come across in all my years of traveling, these things are hazardous!! Finally for dessert we're taking you for the iconic Hong Kong egg waffle!

The pineapple bun is meant to be eaten without the butter being spread. It's supposed to be a thin slice of cold butter that contrasts the warm pineapple bun.

Luke's opening was so cute, but your plan for every episode seems to be to eat eat eat, not just today's episode! Haha... Desserts attracted me in this episode, egg tarts, butter cakes, Waffles, they all look delicious! In fact, you have provided a great information. When you go to Victoria Peak, you must choose the right weather, when there are few clouds! Great job, thanks a lot for sharing!👍😄👏

I can never get enough of those egg waffles myself. There's this one boba place my sister will sometimes order from, and she'll even get those waffles along side the drinks. I swear, when you bite into those things, it's like biting into air. Instead of those square indentations we're so use to seeing in typical western waffles, the egg shaped bubbles oh god. You can just easily rip off a piece and pop them in. talk about a one biter, and yes, you can taste a hint of sweetness in there. I think they do add a little vanilla to the batter if I'm not mistaken.

The food and sites look amazing. I hope to visit Hong Kong someday and get the experience myself; I've heard so much about from friends and family. My mother loved the roast goose so much that she ate it almost everyday when she visited back in 1988. Really enjoyed the video, Luke...thank you for showcasing it.

That's not spam, it's sliced ham. It's the same stuff you'd use in a sandwich. Hong Kong has spam (luncheon meat) and it is shaped like American spam, using the same cans.

Thanks for sharing all the yummy foods! I'm a Canadian born Cantonese here and my dad was born in Hong Kong before he along with the rest of my family immigrated to Canada to run a westernized Chinese take out business. My parents and myself are planning to take a vacation to Hong Kong someday pretty soon as I haven't stepped out or neither have I travelled outside of Canada before. One of my favorite things to watch on KZfaq about Hong Kong are these BBQ roast duck, pork belly, siu yuk & char siu at these local stalls. These chefs knife cutting skills are pretty impressive!

I like to watch your videos Luke, because its like taking a trip to a place (like Hong Kong in this one), without having to leave home, without having to fly etc. The halal Dim Sum place looks really good. I like Hong Kong a lot, and hope to travel there again soon. But for the moment, I am content to watch your videos from there.

Luke, I noticed watching your videos that there doesn't seem to be any street food vendors. I was in Hong Kong for 9 days back in 1966. While I was there I never ate in a restaurant only the street food vendors. The food from those little food carts was outstanding. Sitting along side a dirty dusty street, flies all over the place and I never got sick.😁

Another great honest & fun episode #LukeMartin #ChopstickTravel ! @1:14 Kam Wa - loved your intro going over the history of the establishment , your description on the taste and texture , the build up ! With the exception of the egg tart , I concluded the dishes tried were so-so . The place was packed so thanks for waiting in the queue ! @4:21 at the Kam Wa , the spaghetti " . . . looking like something I would cook at home . . ." ( LMAO ) @8:40 Islamic Centre Canteen - Dim Sum without pork is almost SACRILEGIOUS ! But, from your facial expression feedback , I see that you gave the place a 5 star #LukeMartin approval @15:52 Victoria Peak - making a "lemon into lemonade" @15:44 Luke asking Mink " . . . what do you think?" Mink was speechless (LOL) @17:30 at Cheung Hing Kee - Luke: " . . . you almost killed me with that . . ." Mink: ( no comment ) LOL

Cha Cang Tong is not HK Breakfast. Cha (Tea) Cang (Food) Tong (Eatery) means HK Cafes. You'll find them in California as well. It's ham, not Spam. If you bought Oscar Meyer packaged meats, then you've had that thin sliced ham, which you would find in club sandwiches from diners in the US. Waffles are called Little Chicken Eggs because of their shape.

Those are slices of char siu(barbeque pork) in spaghetti not roast pork. Two thin slices of ham in vermicelli soup not spam. Don't see much differences for the Islamic canteen did their Halal Dim Sum compare to the locals. They don't offer worchester sauce for dipping of beef balls. If those Sheng Jin Bao were eaten in the restaurant, it would complement with red wine vinegar for dipping as well. Eggettes are the usual sweet snacks in the afternoon.

I'm a fan of most of the comfort food in HK but just don't get the hype over some of the food items where you can easily cook better at home.... stuff like ham & macaroni or spaghetti or instant ramen.... I suppose most HKer's just don't bother cooking at all.... not sure if anyone cares but most of these cafes use mostly crappy ingredients and heavy sauce to mask any undesirable smell/taste...
