Nice collection of synths. Love the sound around 20min.

Thank you, the sounds were made quickly…I was torn, thinking “should I really agonize over then to try and make them the best I can” but in the end I thought it might be better to demonstrate that you can achieve decent tones with less effort than you might expect. You don’t have to be a sound design expert to have fun making music. :)

@@synthseeker Your very welcome, it's a pretty great tutorial. Hmm... maybe using the above technique in the context of a full track, fading in/out various stacked elements, how smoothly to change between stacked sequences, etc.

Hi..big fan here..thanks for your videos!.one question..could you give us tips about how you manage to plug all those synths to the electric supply and avoid noise issues? Thanks for your content!

Thanks for the nice comment! To answer your question: I use a single, very large power strip that has about 12 jacks on it and is about four feet long. Everything runs off that and avoids ground loops that way. There are a couple additional power strips running off the main one. Things like effects pedals are grouped together on single high-wattage power supplies that isolate and provide clean power. I could do a video on how the power is managed. The synth signals are sent into their respective channels on a mixer or interface, and I take time to gain stage as best I can and try to maintain a good signal to noise ratio. Are you having trouble with noise? If so, can you describe it?

hi there - with the first example with the 37 and the cobalt, do you have the sequence programmed into the synth or into the deluge? if its in the synth - how does the deluge control the pitch? but if its in the deluge - how does it send different sequence data to each synth if they are both on the same channel? my apologies for this probably stupid question - but it was making my brain hurt and wanted to ask! (also, apologies if you do actually explain it - i am wathching this whilst also... ummm "working"). 😀

Both the SSQ37 and the C8 have internal step sequencers, and each has a sequence loaded, an 8 step one on the SSQ37 and a 7 step one on the C8. A feature of step sequencers is (usually) when you send the synth a midi note, it plays the sequence but transposes it to start on the note it receives (in this case, the controlling midi note is coming from the Deluge sending on midi channel 6, and both the SSQ37 and the C8 are listening on channel 6.) So when you send a note from a controller (like the deluge) both start playing their sequences on that note. If you have a synth with an internal step sequencer, read the manual section on what it supports and how to use it. If it supports transposition (almost all do) you're good to go! If not you can use a step sequencer in software if you use a DAW, or if you use a hardware sequencer you can create a different pattern for each synth layer and make them similar but slightly different. :) Does that make sense? Thanks for commenting.

@@synthseeker hiya - ok, so this is the part i need to learn about "A feature of step sequencers is (usually) when you send the synth a midi note, it plays the sequence but transposes it to start on the note it receives". i use a keystep pro as my main sequencer and this is something i never even thought about until watching this video! i guess its time to dust off the manual! thanks for your reply 🙂

@@_rootsman - Ok the Keystep pro gives you a lot of options. It has three arpeggiators - which you can use for stacking...just assign different arp patterns to each synth then send them all the same chords...but it also has four transposable sequences which you can transpose by hitting the "trans" button and selecting a key on the keyboard. Definitely read the manual there...it's a very powerful bit of gear for stacking. :) Have fun!

I made sure your 66 likes went to 67. Now do me a favor and remove those stickers from your gear, they make me cry. Seriously though, stacking differently timed sequences like this is very interesting. I use Falcon by UVI which allows for an unlimited amount of layers in one patch, so I can experiment with this idea inside one box. Thanks again!
