My Cyberpunk 2077 Critique: • Cyberpunk 2077 - Truly...
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith's game series. Set in a dystopian Cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of "V" (played by Gavin Drea/Cherami Leigh), a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as "Night City", where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic "bio-chip" containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V's mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V's life.
The game's development began following the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Blood and Wine (2016). The game was developed by a team of around 500 people using the REDengine 4 game engine. CD Projekt launched a new division in Wrocław, Poland, and partnered with Digital Scapes, Nvidia, QLOC, and Jali Research to aid the production. Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith was a consultant, and actor Keanu Reeves had a starring role. The original score was led by Marcin Przybyłowicz, and featured the contributions of several licensed artists. After years of anticipation, CD Projekt released Cyberpunk 2077 for PlayStation 4, Stadia, Windows, and Xbox One on 10 December 2020, followed by PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 15 February 2022.
Cyberpunk 2077 received praise from critics for its narrative, setting, and graphics. However, some of its gameplay elements received mixed responses while its themes and representation of transgender characters received some criticism. It was also widely criticized for bugs, particularly in the console versions which suffered from performance problems. Sony removed it from the PlayStation Store from December 2020 to June 2021 while CD Projekt rectified some of the problems. CD Projekt became subject to investigations and class-action lawsuits for their perceived attempts at downplaying the severity of the technical problems before release; these were ultimately cleared with a settlement of US$1.85 million. By September 2022, the game has sold more than 20 million copies. An expansion, Phantom Liberty, is set to release on 26 September 2023 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A sequel was announced.

@nolives nope had it in 2020, and it was a bug riddled. It ran like crap and the story isn't that great tbh. Rpg elements were below subpar, and it was simply overhyped by the community.

The mistake was porting the game to the old gen, it was clearly not aimed for that, and its was a middle of development "corpo" decision. And is still has some weird bugs, at least over 2.0 version, but nothing major.

@@FableBlazeI fully agree with you my friend. This game was and still is too overhyped and it is still no way near anything CDPR was promoting and promising years before release. honestly, if they just didn't try to force the game out on last gen, the reception would have been a lot better. while PC and current gen were still buggy, they weren't even close to how bad last gen was. But then again they'd probably have received backlash for not putting it on last gen, at least back in 2020, though i'd imagine less than they got from what did happen

Yeah exactly. Whereas now even tho they've made the game amazing I'm sure the casual players will still keep shitting on it just because of the reputation it got at launch, which is really sad to see when personnaly this game made me live such an incredible experience in terms of story, characters, the atmosphere and architecture of the world, the lore, side quests, the soundtrack.. even in the little details like the design of cars and guns you can see so much work went into all those things, it's depressing to see the game get treated as bad as the worst trash like fallout 76

@mordor1779
@mordor1779 8 ай бұрын
@@raidermaxx2324 the first person perspective allowed them to create this dialogue system in real time where you keep control of your character during conversations and can still chose what to answer while driving or moving around and it makes the game feel so much more natural and immersive, because there isnt any cuts from the gameplay to the dialogues like in other RPGs like witcher, starfield etc. That wouldn't have been possible in a third person game. Because in third person the game needs to zoom on the NPCs face during conversations so that you can see their faces, which means taking control from the player and lock you in the same position without being able to move during dialogues. Plus third person makes the combat much slower which doesn't fit into this game at all there is so many implants and talents that allow your character to move at really high speed, dash in the air or jump really high, it would look so weird in third person. Making this game third person is so much sacrifice in terms of gameplay and immersion just so that " you can see your character "

Dogtown is insane. Small in surface area sure, but it feels so much bigger and has so much verticality. I did the intro last night and it took me 5 hours on very hard, that boss fight was hard man. It is such a strong start, the writing, the characters, world building. This is so far CDPR at their absolute top of their game. I'm getting same vibes in quality I was getting Hearts of Stone's writing, and that's the best praise I can give so far. And Hearts of Stone is for me one of the best video game stories ever and CDPR's best story to date. I know people love Blood and Wine, but story wise HoS is just supreme.

As someone who has thousands of hours in the base game and have been playing in the hardest difficulty throughout, I can, without a doubt, say that the AI changes make the early game much more difficult. They take cover more, they use cyberware more, and they even use boosters to heal themselves now. So I think around mid to late game when you've leveled up a lot and have gotten a lot of perks and cyberware, it will feel easier than the base game, but early game is definitely more difficult now.

I don't think it's correct to say cyberpunk 2077 is now what it was supposed to be because they haven't overhauled the main missions. The fact that you felt that within the first two hours of the expansion you had already experienced more epic set pieces and high production quality action sequences than in the entirety of the base game proves that the main missions had a lot of missed potential. This game won't live up to my expectations without that issue being sorted, but the fact that I've racked up more than 300 hours of playing the game suggests that it's a pretty good game anyway.

Give it about 2 years and the modders will make gold out of it, but right now it's just not worth it for me.

Before I watch this video, I want everyone who has made a comment to remember this: One of CDPR's publicity stunts was to announce that all of their future DLC will be free. And the best DLC so far is not free. I am no longer a fan of this game, and that's funny, because at launch I didn't hate it like everyone else did. I didn't ask for a refund. I just waited for the patches to see what I was offered. CDPR has done so little to impress me, that I believe the price I paid for at launch is all this game is worth. cyberpunk is a ubisoft checklist world devoid of anything to actually do. no new gear to unlock after 6 or so hours in the game since all 15 or so weapons are available by that point and iconic weapons are just colorful versions. cars are usless since you can fast travel everywhere and they almost all handle the same anyway. i really cannot understand why people say 2.0 is such a game changer. its nothing, they added police which cant properly chase you still after 2 years of working on it, and guns on cars so you can park on ncpd hustles and wipe them. if anybody actually played the game on release they would know virtually nothing of substance has changed except for performance in the past 2 years. how on gods green fucking earth are you actually going to sit here and say 1 new district and a questline is worth 30 dollars.

In my play through I never once had an interaction with the cops. Don’t even think I got a wanted level because there was never a reason to just randomly start blasting the sidewalk. No mission ended with me being chased by cops. It’s an empty solution to a problem that never existed. There is zero reason to interact with anyone outside of a mission. No reason to break in somewhere, pickpocket someone, or even stop in between point A to B

Haven't tried the DLC but only 2.0 and I don't really share your view that it feels like a new game at all, but rather a better optimized and smoother game experience. Given how many times they have reworked the skill system (Which is good if it improves it), it also shows that it was terrible in the first release. From what you are saying about the DLC, I believe that it might be what they wanted CP to be originally. But even with 2.0, the original CP on its own, I don't think makes up for the promises made about the game, especially the "All choice matters" statements (Within limits), which to me at least is the most crucial statement they made that they didn't fulfil. 2.0 as I see it, is but a bandage on these promises. That being said, I did enjoy CP and I have no doubt that I will enjoy the expansion as well, but will wait until it goes on sale :)

The CDPR dev team was always incredible, but I do wonder if AAA gaming has reached a point where it’s getting too expensive to release boundary pushing games in a fully finished state. This also begs the question of whether releasing the game early was actually financially beneficial for the studio because of how much media exposure and sustained interest they have gotten just from simply fixing the game over the past few years. It has gained exposure and built on the player base every time they have put out a new update, and the anime has only revitalized the universe even more. And now they are about to get another injection from the DLC, which will undoubtedly do numbers at this point. While it’s great that CDPR stuck with the ship, I do worry that other AAA publishers are going to take note of how this kind of public setback can actually increase the shelf life and economic viability of single player games if done smartly. This could be yet another slimy method that publishers use to game the system and continue to release unfinished games on purpose. And given how utterly and embarrassingly unfinished the game was on release, I also wonder if the top brass at CDPR also had this plan in mind all along.

Nah man. AAA devs don't even care to stick with multiplayer games these days after a busted launch never mind single player. Easyest way to make money is get the hype up, pay for some good reviews, get your money, and then quetly stop releasing updates over the course of a year. What CDPR did here goes against all tenets of AAA gaming. They literally wasted millions of their profit on some DLC for a game everyone shat one and that was dead for years. Literally insane behaviour.

@JuicedOnKids Yes, and they had already postponed the release twice, had a tight budget and received 8 million pre-orders. Their shareholders were worried that people would start canceling pre-orders and pressured them to release the game. It looks like management is to blame, but also the developers either weren't assertive enough to tell how much more time they really needed, or they got their estimates wrong. It also seems to me to be the fault of the RED Engine, which should have been retired after The Witcher 3 and is not suitable for such a complex game.

14:32 you used to warp like this really bad at launch when you would walk over uneven ground that had a ramp shape to it, i bet that tiny tiny lip at the sidewalk did it.

If your going to do procedural generation you have to have a large or vary large pool to pool from so any repetitiveness is not as common. You may encounter the same thing again but it might be idk hours down the line of gameplay. If you have just a couple of things the randomness isn't that random. Unless you got some sort of system that really randomly generates things for you but that could really cause a lot of issues like floating trees or whatever it may be

Are you going to do a story breakdown for this dlc? Would love to hear your thoughts on the endings and new game ending.

Three years to get our money’s worth isn’t great but tbh it’s unfortunately infinitely better than what most devs would do in CDPR’s shoes so I’ll just say that I actually love this game in it’s current state and I really feel like 2020’s release has taught CDPR a lesson they took to heart so I’m pretty glad overall.

Think of it this way, I've been playing since day 1 and loved it I like good stories and side stories and a well realised world I don't go about killing civilians etc With that context, it was a great experience since day 1, I was one of the folks who never got a crash not even visual glitches like floating weapons, T poses, and I played, still play, on an i7 3770 at 1080p What's added makes it even better, it was always good for many folks like me (200k/275k positive Steam reviews since first week)

@@kaushalsuvarna5156yep it was always great. It did have bugs and some frame dips ( not bad on XSX) but was always fun, great looking and amazing story and characters.

@@kaushalsuvarna5156 I’m glad it was so positive for you, my experience was quite different. Day one most of the fun I had was just breaking the game, but I couldn’t have cared less about the story and I found the gameplay to be very lackluster. Which consequently made me avoid side objectives to avoid boring fluff. That all being said though, I don’t want to be too negative because I genuinely love the game in it’s current state. The gameplay changes alone have really just helped everything else shine. The only stuff that kinda bothers me is I feel that the main story feels pretty restrictive and the whole “origin story” thing with character creation has s lot of untapped potential. I still don’t think having to wait three years for what I was promised is great, but I guess better late than never.

@@Heretic_real yes there's the difference, some like these stories and the world building, some hate these stories and find the world empty Some even hated the voiced characters, some find them the best in gaming history Weird world

No game looks even remotely close to this. Best graphics I've ever seen in a game by far, and with a 1660 Ti LAPTOP. They really did a lot to this game and they deserve admittedly criticism, sure, but also acknowledgement.

@HaveButOneLife so what you need a 4090 to get those settings most people will never play cyberpunk that way, meanwhile the base ps5 horizon looks better than the base version of cyberpunk

@@undrtddrmzmedia3331 Huh? I'm running a mobile 1660 Ti with FSR 2.0 and can play medium settings or above. It's very well optimized, and as for base Horizon "looking better" I just don't believe you.

I remember back when the game was new, I had a similar pistol bug but with Jackie. The relic for some reason was replaced with one of his pistols, so instead of handing me the relic inside Delamain at the end of the Heist, he basically shoved a gun in my face after it materialized from his skull.

I honestly don't know how they were able to build such an incredibly complex, gorgeous, realistically futuristic, dangerous city with such amazing graphics and detail. The art and everythng has such a cool and distinct syle to it and feels like everything you look at the artist was pouring everything he had into making a world that's unlike something you've ever really seen before. Just designing and building the city alone is a monumental achievement

Just started playing last night on ps5, first next gen game I’ve played and omg it’s mind blowing. When you walk out the apartment then meet up with dex in the car with his cigar smoke, it was so seamless and natural and the lighting is incredible. The hardest part is putting the damn game down lol !
