Awesome video brother. I injured my back cycling. Did a 34 mile ride and rode through cramps. Back was bent all the way. Could feel mild pressure on lower back but didn't take notice. When I did stop I felt the lactic build up in thighs, calves and lower back. Got up the stairs at home and collapsed in the landing. Couldn't get up for afew hours. Had to call a ambulance. Following day couldn't walk out move. Eventually through little movements after 3 days I was able to stand up again. I've diagnosed myself with this spondylolisthesis. Because of the description of the pain. Feels like my lower back is detached from upper back. Don't have numbness or lack of bladder control so that's a good sign. These exercises are very helpful. Combined with rest. Thank you for everything

Wow great stuff, similar to what I do in Pilates, i was just diagnosed with spondylolisthesis and two neurosurgeons said spinal fusion, i really don't want to do that. I believe that i can strengthen myself in order to live with this. I have to stop heavy construction and probably ice hockey, but so be it , i will find something else to do. I'm 65 going on 45 😜. I thought 😮😅. Thanks for the video, really made me re- think my options, first therapy, maybe injections, lastly surgery.👍🏻💪🏻

Thanks for the nice comment! Sounds you have a very smart and logical treatment strategy moving forward. With these there are a few things to best to stop, but most can be prepared for likely anything else. Age is just a number and there is so much we can do to help yourself. Keep up the great work!

I have congenital bilateral pars defects and was fine ( I did have pain in my early 20s to which my doctor said "youre too young to be in that much pain. XRAY TIME!" That's when I was initially diagnosed. I also had degeneration.) for most of my adult life besides having pain that I could push through. At 38, I noticed leg weakness, that i couldn't get my legs to move as fast as I wanted them to, etc. I am now 41, cane bound, barely able to walk, am a fall risk, and I am fighting with disability. I cant work. I also now have grade 2 anterolisthesis which has caused lordosis and pinched off everything below L5. Yall, if you are young, and get diagnosed with this, do NOT let your doctor brush it off. Whats happened to me, could happen to you. I wanted a surgical fix back then when it was just bilateral pars defects and degeneration but they said I was too young. I dont understand that. I would think being younger would be better.

Thank you for this video and all the information provided. I am 56 years old and suffer from grade II (50 %) Spondylolisthesis and sciatic pain in my left hip. The sciatic pain, due to the compression of a nerve root, is worst at night when I toss and turn in bed. I mainly experience pain in my lower back when I get up in the morning. I exercise regularly (calisthenics) to strengthen my core/abdominal muscles. I would also like to take up again table tennis and jumping rope. I did these two before without experiencing any lower back pain (4x per week, I started with one hour of jumping rope followed by one hour of intense table tennis practice with a coach). Do you think jumping rope and table tennis would make my grade II Spondylolisthesis worse?

I have been told to avoid back extension, this is in response to the supermans. I have been told I have either L5 L6 spondy or L5 S1 from a different practitioner. I have tried hip extension bridges weighted and back extn from a flexed position but I am afraid to do back extn and I have been avoiding twisting to as I have been told I have an l5 facet fracture. These are new dx for me and I work as an OT so I have patients with back fractures on a regular basis on my caseload.

We would recommend get a flexion/extension x-ray done of your lumbar spine (low back). That can determine is the spongy is stable or not. Also depends on the Grade. If it is a grade 1 it will likely not limit and activities.

@PerformanceSportSpine
@PerformanceSportSpine 6 ай бұрын
The only way to assess the spine is with imaging, specifically a flexion/extension x -ray to see how much movement there is a t the level with the pars fracture. As for the spinous process being larger, it is common that some of bones are just naturally larger than other. Please let me know if you have any questions @@cryeredd7563

It’s also stable. I go to chiro about every 3 weeks now. But still have si joint, top of hip and slight groin pain. It’s not as bad as it initially had been when first went a few months ago and learned I had the fracture. However I’m thinking I have poor core, hip and glutes muscles making the hip pain worse. I’m looking for things that may work for me.

I have grade two. I love playing pickleball. If I strengthen my core as these wonderful exercises indicate, may I return to that sport?
@PerformanceSportSpine
@PerformanceSportSpine 6 ай бұрын
Most people with a grade 2 can return to their activities, with the right rehab and appropriate dosage when returning to sport (you will likely have to use a pickle ball as part of your rehab and gradually increase your playing time/intensity). Also with a grade 2 we recommend getting a flexion/extension x-ray to see if or how much movement there is.

What if sitting down helps relieve pain but makes it worse when you get up?
@PerformanceSportSpine
@PerformanceSportSpine Жыл бұрын
Sitting probably helps the spine d/t the position, but the lack of movement causes the spine to tighten up, then when you go to move the spine is stiff/painful and takes a while to improved. Things like graded exposure to crunches are a great rehab idea for this.
