I Sublimated on 3 Different types of shirts plus a wash test!

What is up Lumedia Fam! I have been working on this video for a while and finally wrapped it up! I sublimated on 3 different types of shirts varying in polyester build. 40-95% poly, Idk why I put 90% on the thumbnail lol. Take a look at the different qualities between the 3! All shirts are available locally at almost any craft store and two of the shirts are even from Walmart! I also added a wash test at the end! I have a couple of Obey shirts that I bought about 12 years ago... they're 50/50 poly/cotton heather-grey. Still look new... I legit think it's the best blend out there. Feels great, fits/wears great. No stretched out collar... maybe they're just miracle shirts, idk. I'm definitely going to try to incorporate that into my business.

Wow I love this video. I love that you keep it real.... I just started using sublimation transfers and read a lot on this and watched a lot of videos. From that I was under the impression that I could only use 100% polyester. So I spent a lot of money on purchasing 100% polyester tee shirts on line. The shipping cost are crazy if you are not buying in bulk. I have the Cricut maker and I was in Michael's some time back and saw the Cricut infusible ink shirts on sale and wondered if I could use them in place of the 100% polyester shirts. I bought 4 to keep on hand to try them out. I hadn't done that yet. Now that I have watched your video...I will certainly use them today. Thank you so much . This is a very informative video...Love that you showed the tee shirts after washing them.

you can definitely use poly cotton blends. Of course with sublimation the higher the polyester count the better. Quick tip: always check the cricut website for sales on the infusable ink stuff. Michaels price matches their website. Thank you for watching!

I see that the cricut T shirt turns out so well. Is it any shirt that has 95% polyester and 5% spandex would turn out like that? Also, can we just print from an inkjet printer or do we need an actual sublimation printer? Thanks in advance (:

Sublimation is a better option in my opinion but only really works on light garments.

I sublimated on a 94 Poly / 6 Spandex on 385 for 45 seconds, using parchment paper inside the shirt and on top, and still got the scorched square.... ??? Wondering how you had no scorching at 400 for 60 seconds?!!

I say it like twice LOL. Temp is 400f (204c) and 45-60sec depending on how much black is in the image!

@@Lumedia So more black on the image 60 seconds? did my first print test.. 200c 30 seconds.. the colors rubs off with your fingers.. (image is black and red mostly) 100% Cotton Gildan

Black will be a 100% no go. Remember sublimation printers don’t print in white. Gray depending on the shade of it will be similar 40% will look super washed out.

You got that wrong, the tri blend shirts are for the vintage look! They are actually highly liked. For vintage prints you need lower polyester to get that grunge look. greetings from germany

I have a cricut print and cut video. Go watch that. Only difference is that when you send the image to be printed select your sawgrass in the cricut software.

Not polyester unfortunately. Cricut has been pretty consistent on keeping their shirts at the $5-7 price and Michael’s price matches their site. Anything cheaper and your in see through world (thin polyester shirts).

i hate using my heatpress it smells way fishy lol, it is the silicon heat matts they stink horrid. because i do not use it often as i just make a few things for myself or to sell so when the mats are cooled i actually take them off and wrap cling flim or as you would say plastic wrap around them because they smell so much

my issue with cricut branded things are the cost...if you do it as a business too sell the items are too costly to make much profit, lets be honest there is only so much money people will pay for a t-shirt with a image on it that is from someone who is not a big worldwide name

not really they are literally always on sale on the cricut website for 4.99 and Michael's price matches. Not to mention a lot of my orders are rushed and i pass the cost to the customer.

On the 90% polyester it’s pretty permanent. The other two definitely fade a bit after a wash or two but are also permanent.

100% Polyester is the best. But you can use blends just fine like I show in the video.

you need sublimation liquid for 100% cotton or anything that has more cotton in it than any other fabric

Can I use sublimation paper on a wide format printer? Or only the printer you have ? That printer is 666 and I can’t afford it right now sadly. But the other printer is wide format and has good reviews. Do you think that would be ok for that type of paper?

Same thing happened to me. 65% poly 35% cotton Had ink stains on it after I washed it.

On higher count polyester shirts no it will not. On blends it will fade a bit. But it won’t fully wash out.

It’s like flipping it the opposite way. So when you look at it it looks backwards but when it transfer it will be facing the correct way.

just check 'mirror image' on your printer settings and save it, from now on you printer does the recall thing

$7 for a poly shirt? i bought an eco tank 3710 and all the supplies but used printiful while setting up and my cost per unit is not much less to print myself. So I am going to stick with printiful for web orders and do sublimation on the spot for testing and in person orders

now mugs.. printiful has 12 oz mugs for $10 + $4 shipping. i bought 24 - 15oz mugs for @70 bux so 3 bucks a pop. transfers 12 cents each and a nickel worth of ink. im already $7 less production cost and the only question is can i mix and match order vendors and include myself as vendor of the mugs since the markup is 300% on production cost. riddle me that one batman 😎🤘

So another words I’ve been watching other videos plus years the easiest way to explain it polyester is the way to go no cotton cause I noticed they do come out Dollar and when you wash them it’s even more worse so money out the pocket of a polyester 100 is on the way

Yep, like a vintage look on the cotton poly blends. The cricut one in no way is it washed out.

I’ve never used a sawgrass. So I have no argument there. But that’s also like comparing a Honda to a Lexus. Both are probably reliable and one rides a bit smoother. But the cost difference is significant lol.
