Just came across your channel while searching for methods of doing windows pulls for real estate photographs. I can't use a flash because I am shooting 360 tours with a camera that doesn't support a flash (or RAW format pics). I have taken 5 bracketed exposures to see if I can blend something decent together. Is this technique you are showing here usable for window pulls? I have been using Aurora and Luminar but am getting the sense that I should make the (BIG!) jump to LIghtroom and Photoshop because of some of the tools that would make ambient window pulls simpler. Your advice??? Thank you!

A window pill is a technique, so not sure how to respond to the question. Yes, this technique can be used to help restore bright or blown detail in windows if that’s what you mean.

How is this different from the Lumenzia Basics panel that was (is?) also free? Should I use one over the other? Thank you for creating great software.

Greg. Love the new Lite edition as a quickie and then if needed use full Lumenzia. I have one question as I follow video. After you make the adjustments on the B/C layer and want to make a new more selective layer you click on the properties icon on your Photoshop screen. Since you are going to a new layer is this just Deselecting the previous selection, or what? Thank you
@gregbenzphotography
@gregbenzphotography 2 жыл бұрын
Adjusting properties does not affect the selection, nor does the selection impact the properties. The selection interacts with tools like the brush.

@@gregbenzphotography OK I understand but what Properties are you adjusting in this video example? Thanks again. I see you go to properties but I cannot follow what is accomplished. Pardon my slowness.

Hi there, I encountered a problem regarding the email you sent. I downloaded the LumenziaLITE to my PC. However it was detected as a malware Trojan:Win32 Tiggre!rfn. Now I can't shake it off on my system. Please help

That’s a false positive. I write the code myself. And even if you don’t trust me, Adobe has created significant sandboxing to protect the computer from plugin code. You can uninstall any plugin via the Plugins menu / Manage in PS, then click the … next to the plug-in to uninstall. Which antivirus are you using? I’ll submit code samples to them so they can update to stop the false positive. I should also add that I haven’t changed the code in a long time (release notes in the download should say). The fact that you’re the first to say something makes me wonder if the detection is for something else (I’ve seen many false positives in the past and they tend to get reported quickly). Be sure to check the details in the warning, as it’s possible you have a false or real detection of something else on your machine. My code runs from a bundle.js file which will be in an Adobe folder path after installation. It’s also entirely possible you’re the first to report because the anti-virus software was just updated.

hmm i would love that tool actually but something is not working for me. If I click L2 > mask, the image looks terrible like there is no contrast at all. If I click L2 > sel > mask. Then everything is completly fine. So I guess if I buy plugin with preblend mode it would't work for me cuz it's not selecting? just masking right away? As I understood from tutorial about blendif function in Lumenzia so basiclly what im trying to do - I have 5 brackets from really dark to bright ( top to bottom ). If I use L2 > sel > mask (on all layers) top layers are revealing themself with whole necessary details but if i use just L2 > mask ( on all layers ) = i'm getting weird looking image with tottaly bad results hmm no brusshing at all Could You answer? I guess I'm doing something wrong. Thank You Greg for Your tuts :)

Please email me with more detail, I’m not following your question. gregbenzphotography.com/contact/ L2 / Mask and L2 / Sel / Mask are identical other than 8 vs 16-but precision (which does not matter)

Yes, people use it for that frequently. Anything you want to mask or select that varies a bit by color or tone from its surroundings is a potential subject.

with every respect for your amazing work, may i ask why Lumenzia is better than Camera Raw ? I mean for example, luminosity masking, color masking, gradients etc. working together, real time adjustments and instant feedback. I suppose You dont develop this tool because of nothing, so there must be some kind of advantage here vs camera raw i cannot see. Great work ! bests: Lev

Hi Lev- They are very complimentary. Lumenzia is a tool for precision to give you control where you adjust an image, but it has very few adjustments it can make directly to the image. Camera RAW is primarily a tool for adjusting the image and it has some control over local targeting, but nearly as much as you can achieve with Photoshop and luminosity masks. I use Camera RAW and luminosity masks (both) on nearly every single image, they work incredibly well together to give both the best possible adjustments and the best possible precision (masks and selections).

Camera RAW doesn't really have the concept of masking, at least not that I know of. If so, please educate me. Right now, it's my primary tool. It's improved a lot in the last few years. But, Lumenzia seems to offer a lot more. Just a matter of understanding the concepts more intuitively. Masking specific ranges of luminosity on adjustment layers and fine-tuning the application with a brush is very powerful and addresses specific components of the image without the edge effects of whole-image adjustments, as advanced as they might be. But, in the end, it takes an eye and a mind's eye to recognize the opportunities in an image and, from that, the artistic possibilities. I am pretty good with the technical understanding, working on the artistic part.

It has local adjustments, I have another video on recent masking updates for LR which shows the latest. But it just cannot compare with luminosity masks, and the range of possible adjustments is much, much smaller. It’s nice, but far less capable in the big picture.
@gregbenzphotography
@gregbenzphotography 2 жыл бұрын
ACR has local adjustments and they now call that masking. It’s helpful, but nowhere close to the masking capability you have in Photoshop / Lumenzia. And it can only be used for a subset of RAW adjustments (not all of them and none of the tools outside ACR of course).
