I love in Alaska, I hunt a lot. I've never really been lost. I don't know why, maybe I've just been lucky, but none of us carry or really own compasses or gps. We can just remember how to back track. When would having a compass really be usefull? When you have a point that you have never been to that your trying to get to?

Yep, and obviously using a map.

Or if something happens and you're out in the woods until past dark. That way you can't see your way out by recognition. Woods look very different at night as I'm sure you know. Compass bearing to get out.

In depth review of the least useful features of this timepiece. Anyone with an accurate pace count and any watch can keep track of their rate of travel. And I prefer a Suunto compass (or lensatic) for my directional guidance, but this little add-on compass is a nice "check north" device. No one mentioned the single most important feature of this piece, which is the GMT function. I understand that your focus is the outdoors, but c'mon guy.... Give it all in the review.
