Of all the people Marinette had to "come out" to, I'm glad it was Alya. She's been Ladybug and Marinette's greatest supporter through this whole series. Just like with the Miraculous, it's not about wearing them, it's about whether you consider yourself an owner. Each of them has entrusted a secret to one of the spheres, which they consider part of themselves.

An epic reaction to an epic installment! Many had expected that there would be a Reveal in season 4, the precedent having been set in season 3, but none (or very few) could have seen it coming in the form it did - not between the two protagonists, nor for the antagonist, but between the primary protagonist and her closest friend. And unlike the Reveals of season 3, this is permanent - there's no Reset Button Ending this time! So, here we have a pivotal moment for this series. We can now regard the series in two distinct parts: pre-Reveal to Alya, and post-Reveal to Alya. I daresay it won't spoil things to say that continuity continues to solidify from here on in: the concept has expanded beyond "akuma of the week" and "Love Square complications," and Alya's role in the evolving story arcs has to become more significant because of this. She can no longer just be one of the supporting cast; she effectively joins Marinette/Ladybug, Adrien/Cat Noir and Gabriel/Shadowmoth at the top of the billing. (More grist for your happiness, Luna!) Why did Marinette fear that telling Alya her secret would change things between them? I venture to suggest that she had these reasons above all: 1) Having kept Alya in the dark for so long, she feared (wrongly) that Alya would be angered by her lack of trust and her deception. 2) A problem shared may be a problem halved, but it's still a problem shared. Her burden is now Alya's too. She knows that the dynamic between them will have to be different. She fears that Alya may struggle to keep the secret as time goes by and worries that she might let it slip by accident, or might have it forced out of her. On which note... 3) Although Alya has proven that she can reject an akuma, thus lowering the risk of Shadowmoth discovering the secret directly from her, there is now some danger to Alya's loved ones. Shadowmoth could easily hold them to ransom, forcing Alya into a potentially terrible position. Alya may be smart beyond her years, but she hasn't quite shown Marinette's problem-solving skills, by which she can get herself out of tight spots. She is taking a massive chance on Alya, more than she has ever done. It's about putting her best friend to the test, an uncomfortable decision no matter how solid your friendship may be. The telling of the secret also sits awkwardly with Marinette herself. Regardless of the fact that it's Alya she is telling, she is considering breaking what was for her a cardinal rule of being a superhero, as she expressed to Cat Noir in "Glaciator" - 'our identities *must* remain a secret.' Then again, perhaps she wouldn't have been so forthcoming to anyone else but Alya; indeed, she gave Alya more than one opportunity to back away, and it was Alya's reassurance ("I'm your very best friend"), coupled with all that she had said and done, that gave Marinette the courage to out herself and lift the weight. And Alya realised what a weight had lifted, hence her response - no words, just a massive hug. The Spit Shot blows your previous one in "Troublemaker" out of the water! If only there were some way we could warn you when not to take a sip of anything.......

This episode was the one that proved to me this season would be a rollercoaster of emotions. I mean, if the third episode of the season already causes this amount of emotions, then I can't imagine what will happen in the series finale that has been promised to cause all kind of emotions at the same time. But I am wondering what is going to happen when she reaches "Mr. Pigeon 72", as the episode after that one is still being finished and will take some time until it's ready and airs on English dub. I would suggest for her to wait, since we're already close to the end. I mean, if she took this long to start season 4, then we can wait a little longer for her reaction to the rest of the episodes.

I think the rule for the akumas is that the object has to have significance to the person, and they have to have held the time recently. In Zombizou, Ms. Bustier threw her lipstick at the akuma and got akumatized that way, so she wasn’t holding it at the point of akumatization either

Here is why they were akumitized together. Mylene felt sad, Rose was upset, Juleka was feeling disappointment Alya was feeling betrayed and Alix anger which is all references to the concept of betrayal which infects connects this episode back to their original akumitization episode Lady WiFi came about because Alya felt like justice has betrayed her and as lady WiFi she could reveal the truth which is the opposite of Rena Rogue who can hide the truth. Mylene felt betrayed because of The class moving on hence Horrificator. Juleka’s akumitized was that she was betrayed by the school and her classmates. Rose betrayal was link to Chloé refusing her. Which is in fact the weakest betrayal in the show. Timebreaker came about because Alix felt like she had betrayed her family and it’s completely obvious that she cares about her family
