This arc present's why I think SAO can live forever: The setting and characters can be changed whenever they feel like it. The writing can flounder between good and abysmal, but thanks to the VR gimmick they can move on to a new idea (and screw it up). Sword fighting old? Let's go on to fairies. Everyone hated that? Guns. They can change the whole setting and characters in a minute and that is the one thing I think SAO has over every other show. They can fail and try again.

Believe it or not, back in the day, it was ok to like this season

Honestly waiting for your Alicization review. It's easily the best arc so far no matter what haters say about it. Well written character, immersive world building, sick villains with reasonable motivations, Kirito not being OP (at least not like the previous arcs), Kirito actually gets a male friend and it has freaking 47 episodes with a 47 minutes episode 1

Ah SAO, the only show where if you are a guy, you are either Kirito, a r******, or those 2 guys Kirito occasionally hangs out in a bar with (god I wish the show was about Klien and Andrew)

No contest, this was the best arc. I never knew how much I needed a Best Girl Kirito until then, and unpopular opinion; so glad Asuna was reduced to background figure in favor of Sinon!

What i love about this arc is the fact that the side conflict that happens cause by real problem, money get involved. Not like previous arc just bunch of people role playing.

The stat conversion is actually explained, the seed thing Kirito got, was basically used as the base for many games after SAO, so think lazy programmers jacking code and forget to clear the part that reads your stats, so anything that used that seed reads the stats still, so all the games he dives in at this point have been a part of this and thus, can move stats from one to another. Im not quite sure how that makes sense though honestly, youd think different server = different data pulls, but maybe its a weird brain thing, given we know the eventual future of where all the tech in the series leads, Accel World, who knows really, but it works for the world setup.

1. Why can you convert stats? Because the Virtual worlds are connected through the seed so converting your character over to another game born from the seed is an actual setting. The downside is that you lose all your items. 2. Why were they allowed to team up? Because it's a battle Royale, you're free to team up with other players or go solo depending on your connections. 3. How was Kirito able to win? Because he converted his character (which he spent a lot of time building up) and because he was using a sword which he has years of experience with. He was struggling during the first few matches because he wasn't fully used to playing GGO. What would've been absurd will be Kirito soloing everyone while using a gun 4. For someone who spent 3 years fighting in a game with the fear of death over his head, the players of GGO might as well be noobs/amateurs. SAO survivors will be far stronger than people who just grind for fun and money. SAO can be seen as White Room Training (COTE) or lost incident training (Yu-Gi-Oh vrains) for gamers. 5. It's not that first sniper shots are impossible to detect. The game doesn't show the bullet lines for the sniper's first shot. Most players rely on the bullet lines for predicting the trajectory of the bullet to dodge or avoid.

One of the few reasons I like this apart is that Kirito has a light saber and it was cool.😂

You can really tell the source material was written before knowledge of programming was commonplace. It's a plot point that your stats can carry over because games share a source code when the only time I've seen something like that happen was when I saw people transferring their progress in SMT Nocturne Maniax to SMT Nocturne Maniax Chronicle (and while I was surprised it could be done, it's lessened by the fact that it's the same game but replacing DMC2!Dante with Raidou Kuzonoha and fixing some bugs). As for GGO, it's been visited a surprising amount of times for a game that is so different to SAO, Alfheim and even Underworld. It's to the point that an entire spin-off series was made just for Gun Gale.

The phantom bullet arc is where I dropped SAO. I loved the first arc, the second was enjoyable but I found this one to be awful. I literally forced myself to watch it because people where telling me that Alicisation was really good and then I dropped it at the tournament fight between Kirito and the girl where she cried non stop. I just couldn't make it farther. I really hated this arc and I had to skip it in order to make myself continue to watch the show, but I'm not gona hate on anyone who liked it. I found it terrible but if you liked it then good cause you found something you had fun watching. So just give it that "8.1 where's my tsundere" rating already.

I personally think this arc in particular is a great example of bad writing. The girl who has PTSD because of a traumatic incident in her childhood suddenly started to improve mentally when Jesus-kun appeared in her life and upset her? Even though her creep of a friend supposedly was helping her through her trauma for a presumably fair amount of time and yet being in Kirito's presence worked just as good as therapy? Not to mention how weird it feels that Sinon fell for a guy she had barely knew and not with the guy who has been a shoulder she could lean on for who knows how long and has (at least superficially) been a supportive friend to her? Does that sound right? Not to mention Sinon pulled a Suguha and completely ignored the feelings of her close friend and instead chose to prioritize a complete stranger who they barely knew. (This applies more to Sinon since Suguha at least DID have a connection with Kirito, she just didn't know it at the time) And in the case of Sinon specifically she chose a stupidly named tournament over her close friend which no matter how you look at it, it was kinda an a$$hole move on her part as well.
