I'll add that I think Lupe as Amy Winehouse is saying please bless my castle of sand (my earthly works which will crumble eventually, as said by Jimi Hendrix in Castles Made of Sand - Jimi died too young, like Amy) and at the end when his/her soul calls them home, their soul is still peering back into their mind, where the lyrics live.

Lets GO. I love this friggin song. Verse 1 talks about what it takes to be an artist, what you have to give up. Do what the chorus commands and for the Gram(my). When Lupe was with Atlantic, they were sending him songs with hooks already that he had to make verses for. The second verse talks about the troubles and sabotages an artist faces. The last verse is SO hard for me. Basically in his music, his soul and his body (of work) have been seperated. And he needs to go back to where it all started, calling back on verse 2.

The palace of bones, castle of sand and mansion of cards is Amy Winehouse. It pretty much tells you that she just didn't have a closet full of skeletons but she herself was a fragile palace of flesh and bone. Amy battled alcoholism, drug addiction and bulimia and it was on full display for everyone to see. Let's not forget her name was Winehouse, so house, palace, mansion etc.. and she died of alcohol poisoning. Of course this is just my take. There is probably many more layers to this.

I don’t know if anybody has mentioned this buts I just heard it. At 7:28 when Lupe says “ my soul called my skeleton home” you can hear a skeleton video game like sound affect showing just how fragile it was. I don’t know if anyone else talked about that already but I just heard it and it amazed me.
