His right hand that was all bones signifies the rotting of his righteousness. Which meant he was no longer capable of making good decisions. He actually gave the outcome of the story there. After that you knew how he was going to end up. Thank you for shining light on Lupe and the MYH saga. The reverse archeologist line got me as well and still one of my absolute favorite lines ever. Great breakdown as always Ernest!

Rhaedgar I think your right that kid push and def kick push two could be part of the story but they just add flavor. I don’t think they are integral to the story since the are more about MYS personally and not the general rise and fall he symbolizes. I’ll do all three of those tracks separately. Probably put kick push and kP2 on the same video And nah you ain’t gotta delete it’ shows people that everyone can interpret how they want!

TheThirdErnest that's cool! See what I did there? I was just asking because I dug deep into the story line when "The Cool" came out. Its taken me many listens and many years to figure out which songs and what order they were meant to be listened in. I'm obviously including his mixtape tracks. Thanks for the reply mi hermano Ernesto.

Bro... I think you're my new best friend and you have no choice in the matter 😂. I can't get over how good these explanations are. Plus, “the only thing on his brain was brains” bar was also referring to zombies on Night of the Living Dead after the living because they wanted to eat their brains. Not that the Cool was that particular kind of zombie, but Lupe is just giving a slick nod to the listener that the Cool is an ACTUAL ZOMBIE, thereby emphasizing he not trying to be metaphorical about his description of him.

I think the reason why not too many watch the Lupe reactions is because he's not that popular anymore and not too many actually listen to him, but that shouldn't stop you from going through the journey, do it for yourself and for the very few who want it regardless to the views. I personally feel more energy in your videos where it's your first time listening to the song, but I'm definitely watching every new video you drop even if it's a reaction to the gummy bear song :p

Damn, the beginning of this song was heavy as heck, the visual that he was implying, and that you were breaking down: that was really insightful. Then the connections with the end of the song vs the beginning, dude I live for lyrics and break downs like this. I learn something new each time I watch your reactions, and I have learned so much just in the past few breakdowns of Lupe's songs. One thing that stood out to me, I think this was with the last song you did, was you mentioned how his breathing was edited out, whereas most artists/engineers will take out the breathing so the song isn't distracting with that, but with him implementing it in his song- it added to conveying a certain vibe. Because of that- I now am more aware of which other artists do that type of thing, or even something different with sounds to convey a certain vibe. Again, insightful as always dude. Thank you for the breakdowns!

I love Lupe Fiasco. But in all my time listening to him, I never picked up on this sroryline you’re putting out. In fact, I have to admit that until this breakdown, I was thinking you may be reading more than what’s there into it. I shouldn’t have doubted you or Lupe. I’m well aware of both of your abilities. Haha. Until today, I just assumed this song was just a warning against thinking the gangster and street life is cool. Which of course it is but on a deeper and more intricate level than I realized. You the man. After the story line reactions might you also do some of his other great songs not part of the storyline?
@dusman75 жыл бұрын
I’m a big lyric guy and love concept albums, deep lyrics, running themes over multiple songs and albums, etc. I just dropped the ball on this one. I picked up on his conclusions just not he way he chose to get there. By contrast I picked up the concept of Drogas Wave quickly. (You gonna break those ones down Earnest?). But thanks for the advice. It’s nice to talk to other lyric lovers. He’s nowhere near as complex and deep but another rapper that I love how he connects things is NF. Most of his big songs continually connect and the connections evolve. Where Lupe’s strength is his complexity, NF’s is in his emotional honesty. But of course if you’re part of the third fam, you already know all that.. And to answer your question, I recently entered my 50’s. Haha .
