I definitely experienced the "good girl rebellion" in my thirties. It puts you in a different frame of mind because you are looking for fun and excitement because you think you've been missing out, but in reality, dating the bad boy as a former good girl just sets you up for disappointment as you start making bad choices. It's a weird and crazy time.

I never understood why Jodie Turner got with him in the first place. He was with his ex-girlfriend for over 10yrs and they never got married. Prior to that, he was linked to many women including Katie Holmes. Reportedly have an alleged drinking/drug problem. So I thought he was just a bad choice for marriage for Jodie Turner. Now he's not even divorced yet and is dating Lupita. The man is a pass-around and low-value if you ask me. This is not a good look for black women.

I went on a date with a newly divorce guy once. They were together for 10 years and divorced for 2. Although the date was fun and he seemed like a decent guy he was no where near ready to date. I told him he needed to get off the apps and be alone. He had adult children and would drive 10+ hours almost every weekend to visit them. I don't know what he did (according to him they "grew apart") but you could tell that talking about the divorce was a blow to his ego and that visiting home was his safe haven. We went on one date, talked a few weeks after, and then we both went ghost after that.

The key is to aim to be fair and ethical but not nice. Being nice makes you an easy lick sadly in this current state of society. Especially as a BW, you have to learn boundaries and the importance of a backbone. Also, it keeps narcs at bay who target agreeable women.

I broke up with a man, who was divorcing his wife after being separated for whatever the alloted time was necessary to file for divorce... He was such a gentleman and I enjoyed his company thoroughly. I was absolutely falling for him when he essentially flipped the script on me, because his ex-wife pissed him off. He took it out on me and showed no empathy. It was a short-lived romance... I don't regret it but I will not forget that it's something I will not be doing anytime soon, again. I'm hopeful that I never do it, again. I learned a lot in a short time.

Definitely had my good girl gone bad moment..and it can be very freeing. Luckily it was in my early twenties (I’m 31 now and have learned not to people please anymore) but I still tried to maintain certain boundaries because jumping off the entire cliff in the end only hurts you more, than it will prove your point. I'm the type of woman he actually needs, he knows better now, etc, etc. They had been divorced a year. They might have bonded over their recent heartbreak, but it definitely seems too soon because I recall him saying he didn’t want the divorce and would go back to his wife if she’d take him. That’s the main issue with considering a divorced man. He may still be pining for his wife, and it might be years later that he abandons you for her, if she ever takes him back because that’s who he really wants. On the flip side, he may want to move on but struggle with the trauma and heartbreak. He may not be willing to ever be that vulnerable again, trusting and loving another woman. Of course he can do the work to heal himself and give truly give love a chance with a new woman, and maybe that will be the last/forever marriage and they live happily ever after.

He ended up being abusive and cheated. He was a mess and confused me. I left multiple times and he always begged me to come back. He just wanted a body, because he discarded me when he was cheating.
