Duckpunts on the Strood

West Mersea Duckpunts sailing down wind to the Strood on a lovely mild Sunday in February. A very high tide meant that we could sail over the marshes and along the Strood, which is the road that joins the island with the mainland. Fantastic day, sailing the best boat in the world with my mates, followed by a swift couple of pints down the pub. Perfect!

What a great video. I love the comment "think I took a bit too much grass there"; the fun of thin-water sailing! Also instructive how you were all kicking up such a wake in the shallows of the Strood. I'm interested to know if the fleet is still together 9 years later? An interested spectator from the South Coast.

Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you loked the video. There are still quite a few punts here, some have been sold and quite a few people have built new ones but don't sail. A few of the old punters have luggers now, so we don't go out in such large groups now.
