According to 'The QI Bumper Fun Book of Astonishing Facts' only three forms of life are technically capable of long term survival on the cliffs around South East Scotland at this time of year - Scorpions, Tardigrades and Northerners. Scorpions avoid the place completely and the Tardigrades don't enjoy it at all. Northerners however have been observed having it large on crags strewn with the ragged corpses of less hardy species. NASA are reported to be now wondering why they spent all that money on heated space suits and extreme vertigo training when the average Geordie would be perfectly happy to pop out and adjust the telly aerial on the International Space Station in Toon pyjamas and a bobble hat. Thanks for yet another extraordinary trip and I'll sithi after! Dave.

Hi Nathan, Tough conditions to be out, especially at that place - it’s never ‘Slow’ there. I’ve done it twice and it’s a tricky place to fish eh? Scary access too. Seems to really swirl about and gust more than at St As and Eyemouth marks, hmm? I was up on Skye again late November and had a blast, and again first week of January, and Staffin - and RHuba H - -were virtually unfishable due to winds and swell - and Neist was a no-no, but still got lucky with a few 3lb and 4lb plus hard fighting pollock. Love it up there - thank you for your recommendation way back in 2021 for that! So I now make the trip every 5 or 6 weeks or so and stay a few nights. Met Dimi and had a sesh on his ally boat too. He passed on his regards and said you n Lewis were ‘ brilliant anglers; know their stuff!’ Got West Cork trip coming up in Feb school hols too - can’t wait! Got a new travel version of the HTO Nebula 2.7m 7-35g rod Henry Gilbey raved about so looking forward to that. All the best Sir; stay safe and tight lines. Gary

Glad you're getting amongst them on Skye, I haven't been for at least 4 years now- need to get back! Funny Dimi should say that, I learnt so much from him and his early blogs and videos. What a fella! Hope Cork goes well for you, the fishing looks insane out there. Let me know how you get one andtight lines!

For some reason, I find weather forecasts, be they Apps or TV or newspaper, always under report actual wind speed you will encounter. Safely add another 15 mph on weather report wind speeds and gust power. As for fishing off these local, and not so local, cliffs and shorelines ...the fish are small. Tiddlers, really. To find out what our overfished shores once produced 30 or more years ago, see some of the videos of Norwegian anglers from shore and small boats. Massive cod, rock turbot, congers are the norm.

Brake shield rotting off is a common fault on those VAG group cars. Dissimilar metals cause a reaction with salt from road gritting and they rot through in about 4 years.

Oh no doubt! Even the ones I’ve had, if I were to describe it would be like a cross between a pollack and a mackerel. God knows what a big one would be like! There was a dead sheep and a dead bird, the bird will be bird flu, but for whatever reason, the sheep around there seem to eat the grass on the edge of the cliff rather than the ample fields on top 🤷‍♂️

It's the same song for the whole video, it's called The Best I've Never Had by Victoriya

You not in a recovery service Nathan??? the places you go you need to be, lose your keys or the car vandalised when you leave it and you're knackered, not cheap but well worth it.

I've got some cover but they couldn't help me on Orkney without an extortionate fee, and I would have had to wait for hours for an engineer to fix what I did in 10 minutes. Don't get me wrong, any mechanical/engine issues and I'll be straight on to them

Love watching your videos but it's an awful lot of trouble to go to and never taking any fish home with you

Always enjoy your stuff Nathan. Don’t want to sound like I’m preaching, but, especially in those conditions you should be wearing a floatation vest of some sort 🤦‍♂️🎣🐟🫣

Thanks Kevin, I always appreciate your comments and feedback. After a descent like that, I reckon falling in the drink would be the least of my worries at least I could climb back out of the sea. Tight lines👍🎣

Have you seen Henry Gilbey’s KZfaq one on life vests and the guy who was in Ireland at Dursey and got washed in. It’s worth watching 🎣🐟

I hadn't but have just watched it, and there's a fair bit of sense in it. Thing like this are a personal choice, like riding a bike without a bike helmet. Out of curiosity, when was the last time you saw a blog post on his website with pictures of Henry, Mark, or anybody else, wearing a pfd?
